Now on the shelves at Harbor Books, three volumes of adventure and nostalgia. Local storyteller. poet, and artist David Done weaves his own life experiences into these fictional tales, taking the reader along for quite an adventure. You can also find David’s notecards in our store, showcasing the beauty of the local area, as well as his volumes of poetry.

New arrivals at Harbor Books for our fantasy fans. A Crown of Ivy and Glass is Claire Legrand’s adult romantasy debut. Chelsea Iverson’s Witches at the End of the World is an elegant historical fantasy. Jessa Hasting’s Never is a twisty romantasy retelling of Peter Pan. And Nightshade by local author Percy Cadaver is a sapphic enemies to lovers dark fantasy. Reminder that we are open this week and will be closed June 2nd-8th. Harbor Books is open regular hours all this week, including Memorial Day (11-5 Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. We will be closed June 2nd-8th while I’m helping my mom recover from surgery. I’ll do my best to get your special orders to you before I leave. Call or check Facebook or Instagram before coming to the store if you aren’t sure if we’re open, I’ll post updates. (We may be able to offer some visits by appointment only while we’re closed, message me with any special requests.).

Harbor Books’ all-genre book club reads such a variety of books! This Sunday, May 26 from 11-1, we’ll discuss When We Make It, a YA novel written in verse by Elisabeth Velasquez. Our picks for June and July are Parable of the Sower (dystopian fiction by Octavia Butler) and My Year of Rest and Relaxation (a darkly humorous novel by Ottessa Moshfegh). Zachary Pike on Monday June 10 at 6 p.m. Our book clubs meet once a month and are open to everyone. We’re hoping to start a non-fiction book club and a book club for kids/teens. Copies of John C. Hughes’ newest book, Lightning Boldt are now available at Harbor Books. This compelling biography of George H. Boldt, the judge who ruled in the famous Boldt Decision on tribe treaty fishing rights, details his life and his career on the bench. Hughes is the chief historian for the Office of the Secretary of Sate in Olympia and the author of fifteen books on northwest history.
Flights of Fantasy book club meets this Monday, May 13 from 6-7:30 pm at Harbor Books. We’ll discuss The Farwalker’s Quest by Joni Sensel. All are welcome!

Mother Lode, a memoir by Gretchen Staebler, explores the challenges and joys of caring for an aging parent, with wit and compassion.

Harbor Books will have a table at the Historic Hoquiam event this Saturday. This yearly event is a great way to learn about local history, and this year will include a walking tour of downtown and an open house at the historic 7th Street Theater.
