Nancy's Bakery, in the Grays Harbor Farmer's Market located in Hoquiam, WA. Since the early days they have formed a team in the kitchen.

Nancy Lachel has been with the GH Farmer's Market since 1975, 1 year after its inception. For many years she baked out of her kitchen at home and in 1996 she decided she was packing too much back and forth and asked permission to finish the small kitchen in the market with the proper commercial equipment. Most of you have no idea that in the 70"s and 80"s I made aprons to sell. Back then I baked for the 2 days the market was open. BUT the bakery really took off leaving sewing in the dust. I've kept the hundreds of yards of fabric from the day thinking I would eventually get around to it. But that's not going to happen so I've decided to sell it. Saturday and Sunday I will have it all set up in the deli. Mainly cottons or blends. $3 per yard for most, $4 on the denims. Nancy

Today we did the first of the rhubarb season pies. Though few are left we did plain rhubarb and strawberry rhubarb. We will be doing more tomorrow.

Good day everybody, this is Nancy at the bakery and I am wondering if there is anybody out there that is interested in working for the bakery. I am mainly interested in somebody that can roll pie dough but I also train to do that. We work Tuesday through Saturdays and you would start at 4:00 or 5:00 in the morning. We have a good time working and it's a fun crew. You can come see me Tuesday through Saturday mornings or send me something through facebook. Good morning, a couple different things here at the Bakery. Shortbread shamrocks with our berry jam, cherries, or lemon curd. We also have something brand new and that would be Pop-Tarts. Same flavor as in the shortbread cookies. We've been making lemon curd to incorporate into our products and we are quite pleased. The Danish are great with lemon

We are gearing up for Valentine's Day, we made Rose cherry biscotti that would go great with a rose tea from Claire. We also have our frosted sugar cookies.

Happy new year, I for one welcome it after missing nearly the first 9 months of this year.

At the bakery we are ending with a bang. As you can see we are starting out Saturday with a full array of Pies including pumpkin, sweetbreads, biscotti, granola, jams, and cinnamon rolls about to come from the oven.

Today, saturday, we are open until 5:30. Sunday, New Year's eve, hours are 11:00 to 4:00. The entire Market will close January 1st through the 15th for maintenance and reopen on Tuesday the 16th.

So if you need anything to hold you for a couple weeks from the bakery you should come in today or tomorrow and stock up, perhaps a pie in the freezer and some biscotti to nibble on. My great staff has put this together for everybody's New Year's. Nancy

Thank you to everybody that showed interest in working in the bakery, applied, or had an interview. I've added two people to our team and I believe we will be able to keep up a little better. Our busy season is coming with the cranberry festival, the Elma Christmas show, and the holidays.

Due to the weather, this was not a great wild blackberry season. I didn't get as many as I would have liked so I won't be baking blackberry pies every week like usual. I did bake wild blackberry pies today and I will tomorrow Friday, as well. Hope you have a wonderful Labor Day Weekend. Nancy

Hello, Nancy here again. I am looking to hire more employees, we are getting into our busy season. If you are at all interested in working at the bakery please bring in a resume. I am looking for early morning people to join our team. Looking for reliability because when you work as a team and somebody can't work you're in a bit of a bind.
