🎨🎉🖌️ Hot Springs Gallery Walk celebrates it's 35th Anniversary this August! Held the first Friday of every month in historic downtown Hot Springs, Gallery Walk will celebrate its 35th Anniversary on Friday, August 2, 2024!

The 35th-anniversary celebration will begin with a simultaneous toast at 5PM at all participating galleries, symbolizing the community's unity and support for the arts. 🥂 In addition to the 5PM toast, Hot Springs' galleries, each a testament to the vibrant local art scene, will present featured artists, some including live music and their own milestone celebrations.

The August event will be celebrated with the following galleries:

In the past 6 months, the Hot Springs Police Department has worked 10 vehicles vs. pedestrian accidents, including 2 fatalities. Most of the accidents are due to drivers not yielding to pedestrians in crosswalks but also pedestrians not crossing within designated crosswalks.

Over the next few weeks, HSPD is going to focus attention on this issue. Officers will be enforcing crosswalk safety at various locations in the city and also addressing pedestrians not crossing at designated crosswalks or “jay walking”.

We want to see drivers be pedestrian aware, but also see pedestrians act responsibly and cross in a safe manner. Our ultimate goal is for drivers, cyclists, pedestrians and other road users to be safe and enjoy our city. The state statutes that address these two issues are listed below for reference.

27-51-1202. Pedestrians' right-of-way in crosswalks.
(a) Where traffic-control signals are not in place or in operation, the driver of a vehicle shall yield the right-of-way, slowing down or stopping if need be to yield, to a pedestrian crossing the roadway within any marked crosswalk or within any unmarked crosswalk at an intersection, except as otherwise provided in this subchapter.
(b) Whenever any vehicle is stopped at a marked crosswalk or at any unmarked crosswalk at an intersection to permit a pedestrian to cross the roadway, the driver of any other vehicle approaching from the rear shall not overtake and pass the stopped vehicle.

27-51-1204. Pedestrians crossing at other than crosswalks.
a. (a) Every pedestrian crossing a roadway at any point other than within a marked crosswalk or within an unmarked crosswalk at an intersection shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles upon the roadway.
b. (b) Any pedestrian crossing a roadway at a point where a pedestrian tunnel or overhead pedestrian crossing has been provided shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles upon the roadway.
c. (c) Between adjacent intersections at which traffic control signals are in operation, pedestrians shall not cross at any place except in a marked crosswalk.
d. (d) Notwithstanding the provisions of this section, every driver of a vehicle shall exercise due care to avoid colliding with any pedestrian upon any roadway and shall give warning by sounding the horn when necessary and shall exercise proper precaution upon observing any child or any confused or incapacitated person upon a roadway.
