Hot Springs has changed a lot over the past hundred years!

An employee brought in this postcard dated 1917, only 4 years after The Thompson Building was built. During this time, the top 4 floors were utilized as medical offices, while the bottom floors housed a clothing store, Straus, and a pharmacy, Jackson’s Drugs. The postcard also shows the old horse drawn carriages and trolleys that they used to have Downtown!

Today, you can’t see the Thompson building from the same view, as there are now fully grown trees on both sides of the street, providing much needed shade for pedestrians during our intense summer heat!

Excited to see the progress on our sister hotel in Fort Worth! The Nobleman Hotel will be built in a decommissioned firehouse. All of our Texas guests should take note, this will be a fabulous place to stay!

You thought the Stueart Pennington's World Championship Running of the Tubs was over??? It’s not for Team Waters! One of our bribes for the judges was tickets to a mixology class at The Rooftop, and even though it didn’t help in their selections, we keep our promises here at The Waters! I’m sure if the other judges got to experience this before the main event, it surely would have won them over. See ya next year and don’t forget about us ;)

Ole McWaters definately stood out and represented at the Running of the Tubs! We didn’t take home a trophy, but we won two of our heats and made it to the finals! Congrats to all the winners and we hope to see you next year!

No better way to start a Sunday morning than with brunch in the Avenue! Our Avocado Toast is definitely worth the try! Our chef uses a fluffy brioche toast with the freshest Hass avocado, cherry tomatos, onion, & arugula, and then drizzles a house-made chili-lime aioli to create an Avocado Toast unlike any other!

Have you walked along Bathhouse Row in the last few weeks? If so, you may have noticed a pop of color among the towering, green-leafed trees. The most delightful time of the year is upon us: the blooming of the southern magnolias!

Southern magnolia (Magnolia grandiflora) is a tree native to the southeast. Even though Hot Springs National Park is somewhat north of the trees’ natural range, the trees have become naturalized to the park.

The Magnolia Promenade, a line of trees along Bathhouse Row, was originally planted in the 1890s as shade for walkers. Generations of park staff have worked to manage these trees, which emit signature scents and scenes of late spring and early summer.
