So when I tell you that this sandwich special is a total banger, no that doing so pains me greatly, but that the truth can not be denied. This sandwich is FU***NG GREAT! Duck l’orange cubano with duck leg carnitas, orange mojo marmalade mustard, pickled carrots with arbol chilies, swiss cheese and a cheeky little swipe of to tie the whole thing together. It’s got sweet, it’s got savory, it’s got depth and soul and I meant to eat half of this taster and not only did I eat the whole thing I also ate the other sample that was supposed to be for the staff to taste. This baby is on special tonight for First Thursday and supplies are limited so def run don’t walk to get yours.

Omg, there are way too many things going on at Winnie’s for me to sum up in a single Instagram image so here’s a really crap slideshow, imagine im narrating this in a smooth voice:

1. We are entering hot dog goblin mode.

2. Tonight (Saturday) we’ve got Spooky Cocktails and at 8:00 we’ll be showing Ghostbusters 1&2! Plus! Young Adam (who probably thinks Instagram is strictly for old people) is throwing his VERY FIRST sandwich special up. Spooky ham and cheese with griddled ham, spinach artichoke Mac and cheese, and crispy onions on marbled rye.

2. The Dreamsicle cocktail that we debuted festival is back! No alcohol! 2.5 g THC (or “w**d” as we called it back in the day) plus satsuma, vanilla, and thyme all carbonated on draft! It’s delicious and a great alcohol alternative. Do not drink it if you are a commercial pilot or have another job that requires drug tests because it will make you fail that drug test and we want you to have a job so you continue to get money to spend at Winnie’s!

3. Tomorrow we’ve got and friends doing a spooky drag brunch!

4. AND the weiner meme queen is popping up with her signature blend of hot dog insanity.

5. INCLUDING some of the most unhinged cocktails we’ve ever come up with (Chicago style Bloody Mary? Pickle libre?) featuring our friends and !

For this week’s vinyl night went all in on ZZ Top’s pure texas vibes and is dropping the enchilada burger. Two beef patties, American cheese, toastadas dipped in enchilada gravy, sautéed onions and Serrano peppers, more enchilada gravy, mayo, all on a seeded potato. Messy enough to stick in your two foot beard, texas AF. We’ll be slinging this monstrosity and raffling off Tres Hombres thanks to which to me is as notable for the Tex mex photo on the inside cover as it is for the fuzzed out texas blues rock that the boys throw down. Stop on bye for a burger and as always, remember that even if you don’t win, is just around the corner for all your vinyl needs.

Here’s the deal: everyone should vote, if you are a Winnie’s fan, than you are obviously a person of culture and sophistication so no doubt you vote anyway, but, we love voting stickers, so if you show up with an “I voted” sticker anytime between now and Election Day we will give you your first daiquiri for just $1 (with the purchase of food). We can kvetch together about what a nightmare hellscape American politics are these days and then drown out sorrows in a perfectly balanced mix of rum, lime, and sugar just like the founding fathers who consumed a truly staggering amount of rum per annum.

Couldn’t be more excited about being nominated for Wing madness bracket competition. In our first round we are matched up against our good friends who don’t even appear to have a Houston specific Instagram account. It’s Halloween and it’s drag brunch and it’s a hot dog party because here at Winnie’s we are nothing if not maximalists. We’ve got Houston’s favorite Drag Queen with special guests and .miyagi performing for you at noon and two in their spookiest drag. PLUS we’ve got a special pop-up from our favorite hot dog meme account serving a truly unhinged menu of specialty hot dogs. It’s like my grandfather always said, “come for the Drag stay for the weiners.” Mark your calendars for October 27th, you do not want to miss this.

If you thought I was joking about hitting the lab for tonight’s vinyl night, you are sorely mistaken! Look at this monstrosity: the Steely Spam. Imagine this scenario: it’s a beautiful Thursday and you decide to pop by your college w**d dealer’s off campus apartment to score an eighth on your way to meet your friends at the park. When you arrive, there are already two other people there, but they are both actually anthropomorphic sandwiches: a Primanti Brothers Pittsburg Sandwich and a Spam Musubi (not technically a sandwich, but roll with me here). All three of you were hoping to just pop in, grab a bag, and roll out, but your dealer insists that the three of you HAVE to smoke the new w**d he just picked up and listen to ALL of Steely Dan’s Aja because it will BLOW YOUR MIND. Next thing you know, 20 minutes have gone by, you are waaay too stoned, you are staring at the snake in the terrarium in the corner, falling deep into the groove of “Peg” thinking “holy s**t, is that Michael McDonald on the backing track?” when you glance over and realize that the anthropomorphic primanti brothers sandwich and the spam musubi are even more stoned than you are have actually started passionately making out, the Musubi is gently caressing the Primanti Brothers French Fries and your w**d dealer is just lying on the floor with his eyes closed humming along to the song and you think “i gotta get out of here” so you drop $60 on the coffee table, grab your stuff, mumble something about having to go and stumble outside where the sunlight blinds you and all you can think is “I never shoulda smoked that”. That’s basically the origin story for tonight’s Spam, French Fry, coleslaw sandwich.
