We could not be more thankful to the James Beard Foundation for the recognition as Nominees two years in a row! We were humbled to attend the awards this week in Chicago, and to be able to bring some of our team. Although we didn’t bring the medal home to Houston, we are very proud of our little 16-seater and all that we’ve been able to achieve!

To our supporters, thank you for showing up for food and beverage workers every day. This Giving Tuesday, we encourage you to continue being a champion for the industry by donating to Southern Smoke. To date, SSF has granted $11,164,367 to F+B workers experiencing an unforeseen crisis nationwide, and since 2020, provided more than 3,900 no-cost counseling sessions to F+B workers in California, Illinois, Louisiana, New York, and Texas through its mental health program, Behind You.

This year alone, SSF has distributed more than $940,000 to F+B workers in crisis to pay for expenses such as medical bills, loss of wages, and rent/mortgage payments, and launched two New York university partnerships to provide no-cost counseling to New York F+B workers through the Behind You mental health program.

Please consider donating on to provide for the industry that has provided so much for us. The holiday season can be especially tough. Let’s give back to show F+B workers everywhere that we stand behind them year round.
