WHAT IS FREEMASONRY?
Many definitions have been suggested, most of them are oversimplified, incomplete, and not altogether accurate.
One of the best definitions is that proposed by the late Charles C. Hunt, of Iowa:
"Freemasonry is an organized society of men symbolically applying the principles of operative masonry and architecture to the science and art of character building."
The Hunt definition especially distinguishes our fraternity from all other organizations that teach a system of morality.
Freemasonry is many things, but one brief description could be that it is a society for the joint effort of its members toward individual self-improvement, a fraternity for learning and cultivating the art of living in the building of Character.
The 2021/22 officers of Park Place Lodge No 1172
Light is the equilibrium fo Shadow and Lucidity.
Movement is the equilibrium of Inertia and Activity.
Authority is the equilibrium of Liberty and Power.
Wisdom is the equilibrium in Thoughts, which are the scintillations and rays of Intellect.
Virtue is equilibrium in the Affection : Beauty is harmonious proportion in Forms.
The beautiful lives are the accurate ones, and the magnificences of Nature are an algebra of graces and splendors.
Everything just is beautiful; everything beautiful ought to be just.

The Foundation of Freemasonry
The Fraternity of Freemasonry is founded upon very specific Principles, Tenets, and Duties, among which are:
PRINCIPLES: Fatherhood of GOD, The Brotherhood of Man, The Immortality of the Human Soul.
TENETS: Brotherly Love, Relief, Truth
VIRTUES: Temperance, Fortitude, Prudence, Justice, Faith, Hope, Charity
DUTIES: To, GOD, Neighbor, Self
Once a man has been found to be, eligible, of good character, with pure motives, and accepted by the lodge, he must also believe in the Principles, to endeavor, to practice the Tenets, to live by the Virtues, and perform the Duties delineated above.
Brethren, as a Mason you are a counselor, and advocate, a judge. Strong measures are are sometimes necessary and justifiable against a brother; but nine cases out of ten, there is "a more excellent way." Good counsel, tenderly and lovingly given, may prove to be "apples of gold in a picture of silver." Temper the judgment with mercy, support the weak, reclaim the erring, and guid the stranger in the right way.
Why does Freemasonry forbid Brethren to ask their friends to become Masons?
One of the fundamental concepts of Freemasonry is that application for membership must be wholly a voluntary act. A man must seek for himself and join " of his own free will and accord". Under no other formula can men unite brethren of a thousand religious and political beliefs.
Freemasonry is bigger than any man; the man must seek its blessings; it never seeks the man.
Cable Tow
Good English usage places the emphasis on the first syllable of a compound word composed of two nouns: a "dog house" or a house for a dog; a "house dog" is a dog for a house.
Rope, cable, cord, string, boded, are interwoven with a thousand religions and ceremonies. According to good English, then, it is the "cable' which is important . Ritualistically, the cable can be used to "tow" - draw, pull, compel - but spiritually it is the "cable" - strong tie- which unites.
The length of a cable tow differs for various Brethren. It is almost universally now considered to be the "scope of a Brother's ability".
Very informative program!
Why do Masons wear aprons?
The use of the apron is extremely old, as with the operative Masons, as a protector of clothing and body against tool and stone, but as a badge of honor. It was used by priest of Israel, by candidates for the mysteries of Mithras in Persia, by the ancient Japanese in religious worship. Ethiopia knew aprons as did Egypt. In all times and climes, it has been a badge of distinction.
It is as such that a Mason wears it.
The material of the Masonic apron---lambskin--- is a symbol of innocence, as the lamb has always been.
Color and material are important in its symbolism but Masonry admits the "symbol of the symbol" as, for instance, an electric light in place of a candle, Hence a Mason has more than once been "properly clothed" when the lambskin aprons of the lodge were all in use and he came through the door clad in a white handkerchief !
Incline thine ear unto wisdom and apply thy heart to understanding. Happy is the man that findeth wisdom and the man that getteth understanding. For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver or and the gain of fine gold. For the wisdom is better than rubies and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.
(King Solomon).
Knowledge is cognizance of facts. Wisdom is the strength of mind to apply its knowledge.
Knowledge comes from study; wisdom from experience.

The basic, local organisational unit of Freemasonry is the Lodge. The Lodges are usually supervised and governed at the regional level (usually coterminous with either a state, province, or national border) by a Grand Lodge or Grand Orient. There is no international, worldwide Grand Lodge that supervises all of Freemasonry; each Grand Lodge is independent, and they do not necessarily recognise each other as being legitimate.
Modern Freemasonry broadly consists of two main recognition groups. Regular Freemasonry insists that a volume of scripture is open in a working lodge, that every member profess belief in a Supreme Being, that no women are admitted (although, in some jurisdictions, those who transition to women after being initiated may stay; see below), and that the discussion of religion and politics is banned. Continental Freemasonry is now the general term for the jurisdictions which have removed some, or all, of these restrictions.
