As people, we waste so much of our time and energy that should be spent on bettering ourselves or assisting our children in their growth on people who show us who they are everyday. You can’t teach someone how to be a better person, you can’t be the human shield for someone else’s karma, you can not be the punching bag for someone else trauma, and you can’t love someone into being considerate. There parents already raised them, why do you think you can do a better job? You deserve the same love and respect you give to your family, friends, boyfriends, and girlfriends. You’re not asking for too much. You’re asking for too little. You’re not giving yourself the love and respect you deserve when you don’t start protecting yourself from people who clearly chose to be who they are, just like you chose to be who you are. I no longer attempt to raise grown a** people and I hope this post will help others decide to do the same. Peace.
