82 years ago this week: The first production Vought F4U-1 Corsair took flight. Famous for its inverted gull wing the Corsair helped turn the tide in the Pacific during WWII and went on to serve in the Korean war and beyond. Seen here is an F4U performing a jet assisted take off or JATO.
