Thank you to art collectors Gene Staka & .l.straka for welcoming home this GONZO247 artwork titled “RE-Imagine” acrylics and spray paint on 36-inch x 64-inch gallery-wrapped custom-built canvas by . The design features John Lennon’s Song “Imagine” lyrics in Artist GONZO247’s signature wild-style graffiti and colors. I hope this art piece can, in turn, inspire peace as inspiration from something created in different times and updating it for today.

Shout out to “Johnny On The Spot” AKA “Pops” AKA “Buelito” AKA the original “Mil Milagros” who made me start working at the age of 12. He instilled the value of working hard and having good ethics. His biggest contribution was holding a blind eye to my graffiti antics in the mid 80’s and eventually became my biggest fan! Thank you for the life lessons and your continued support! I’m here at to do a panel at 1:30 pm today and to see this masterpiece in person! blew me away! This talented group of people put together one of my Houston murals brick by brick with 🤩 I’ll do a reel later, but needing to shout out this special moment! Enjoyed live painting for the Calle Artística event in support of artists in High-School about to embark on their college years and fulfill dreams of an art centered career. My piece was auctioned off to help students receive some scholarships. ABOUT GONZO247 - A Very Long Story Short

Artist, Mario E. Figueroa, Jr., publicly known as GONZO247, was born and raised in Houston, Texas in the area known as the East End. GONZO was first exposed to art as a kid in the late 1970’s through daily family outings that required driving by a landmark mural in his neighborhood, titled “The Rebirth of Our Nationality”. The scale of the mural left an impression on young GONZO and inspired him to one day pursue his passion to become an artist. As a teenager, in the early 1980’s, GONZO was later introduced to the hip-hop culture, zeroing in on graffiti art, which is the visual language of hip-hop. This realm of visual expression connected to him - pointing out that it was being done by people his age, his culture, his skin color and involved dance and music which he was already heavily attracted to. He was always artistically inclined but found his identity as GONZO247 when he discovered graffiti and hip-hop. In 1990, he painted his first public, self-funded and unsanctioned mural to promote his Texan pride, during the 16th annual G7 Economic Summit when it was hosted in Houston, Texas.

Around that time, GONZO247 established Houston’s “Wall Of Fame” (a legal wall to paint and the city’s first art production of its kind). He went on to produce a video magazine, titled Aerosol Warfare, dedicated to showcasing all elements of the Hip Hop. Other accomplishments include running a graffiti and street art gallery, also named Aerosol Warfare, that exhibited artists in the non-traditional art forms. The gallery was co-owned and self-funded to give fellow artists, in these genres of art, a platform to emerge and expose themselves to the local art community. Through this work, he is well known as an early-on pioneer in the graffiti and street art culture of Houston, Texas.

While GONZO247 continued to be active in the art community, he also strived to grow as an artist and evolve his art practice. He has participated in over 300 exhibitions and art projects while also working with top name brand campaigns that speak to urban communities. He is known on a local, national and international level. His art practice involves studio work, private and public commissions, murals, multidisciplinary art projects and co-managing his art company, Aerosol Warfare.

GONZO247 strives to educate communities through engagement, advocacy, and street art /mural tours in order to promote the positive aspects of the graffiti art form. He has been known to volunteer his time to fellow artists and art groups throughout his career. Some of the local Houston organizations he has worked with are TEDxYouth Houston, DiverseWorks, Fresh Arts, Houston Arts Alliance, The Orange Show Center, and Project Row Houses. He is currently serving on the board of directors of Fresh Arts Houston and is a-founder of a budding graffiti and street art museum.
