Electronic Parts Outlet - Houston hosted space for another batch of combat robots to be built with our friends from Innovation Spark! Three new robots are ready to terrorize the stage in the next tournament! A lot of fun and excitement here today!

This is an awesome piece of tech we have here at Electronic Parts Outlet- Houston! This is a Saunders/LPL 670 Dichroic photo enlarger. This machine works on 35mm film and does color reproduction! its not everyday that you get to see one of these but we have one in the store now! Come pick it up at EPO before it is gone!

Electronic Parts Outlet - Houston just had an amazing class about Arduino and its functions, with Caz Bower as a teacher, several topics have been developed, from Arduino main functions to projects to do with the students. Different accessories have been used, such as DC Motors, Servo Motors, LED Lights, Jumper Wires, Arduino UNO Board, among others. This kind of classes are part of our "Summer Classes" section, which are held annually for those who want to join and are interested.

We just had our first day of our summer classes here at Electronic Parts Outlet- Houston. Today's morning class was taught by Bill Werzner on basic electronics. He covers many different topics geared towards beginners looking to start working with electronics. This storm was brutal on everyone I know. After a long day Tuesday of running the store on a generator, we finally have had power restored at Electronic Parts Outlet! Centerpoint has our power back on!!!!! EPO is running and Air-conditioned. We invite you to please come hang out with us and grab a cup of coffee. For those who are still without power, we have batteries and power banks available that make life with out utilities much more bearable.
Despite having the store open, our phone system is still DOWN. At the moment we can not be reached by our normal telephone number. We have arranged a Temporary number: 713-795-9988 until our normal phone system is back up and running.

With Tropical Storm Beryl threatening Houston late Sunday/early Monday morning, we have decided to delay opening of Electronic Parts Outlet Monday July 8, 2024. We will be watching carefully and plan to have the store opened as soon as we can determine it is safe for the staff to drive in. I'd advise customers to please call the store before driving over particularly in the early part of the day Monday. 713-784-0140

These are some exciting times here at Electronic Parts Outlet- Houston. We have recently begun selling Bluetti power stations in various sizes. These stations are great for instances of power loss especially during storms. With the upcoming possibility of heavy storms it might be a good idea to stop by the store and buy one before the rain rolls in. We also have large batteries in the store that would be great to build a home battery backup with and combined with our Bluetti power stations would make any power loss much more manageable!

Electronic Parts Outlet had the most amazing time at the Sugar Creek Fireworks display this last July 3rd the eve of our Independence day! Our R2D2 and the crew who have been meeting up the last few Sundays to work on him got a really good workout driving the grounds and meeting everyone he could! We even ran into some of our regular EPO customers out there! We met a lot of really nice people.

Here is another cool bowling instrument we have at Electronic Parts Outlet- Houston! This is a custom engraving tool used to perfectly engrave a string of letters or symbols onto a ball. Using the template peices as a trace, the technician follows the groove on the letters and the articulated mechanism replicates it on the ball with the electric motor and bit. Check out the amazing Broadcast CRT monitors we have here at Electronic Parts Outlet- Houston. This is a Sony Trinitron which we are using in to display recordings from our Sony digital Camcorders. These monitors are great to display old footage from tapes or display new footage from cameras with that warm vintage quality. EPO is the place to go for amazing vintage tech like this!

Electronic Parts Outlet- Houston might be an unusual place for a bowling enthusiast to hangout but you'll always be surprised here! We recently got in a set of antique tools used for honing bowling balls. This here is an important tool that determines the mass of a ball down to the quarter ounce! Using the hanging weight on the end as well as a double beam balance you can measure the mass of any standard bowling ball. This will take your memory back to the triple beam balances used in high school science class!

We had a fantastic workshop today on 3D printers at Electronic Parts Outlet - Houston. One of our associates, Jack, gave an in-depth and insightful look into not only setting up your 3D printer but also mode advanced handling of various materials though your printer. He helped people setup "Slicing" programs on their computers so they could easily get their art printing. Electronic Parts Outlet additionally DROPPED prices on our surplus 3D printers to ensure they were affordable to all those who came in today! I think it is safe to say that everyone attending had a lot of fun!

Come Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 12:00 NOON to discuss 3D printers with EPO associate, Jack Going. Learn the many secrets of setting up and using your Ender style 3d printers. This is a practical workshop which will go over the process of taking an idea and printing it into reality. The class will go over 3d design, slicing, setting up a printer, and printing! If you would like to get into printing this is a great class to attend as EPO has a surplus of working ready to use printers for discounted prices and special sales! This is also an opportunity to hang out at EPO for complimentary coffee and donuts and talk to other cool people who are interested in 3D printing!

Check out these amazing and working camcorders we have here at Electronic Parts Outlet- Houston. These are Sony Digital Camcorders Model DSR-300A with a Sony SMC-355A viewfinder. Both of these cameras work and we have actually recorded and display footage on our many CRT Monitors here in the store. Each camera comes with a power supply, viewfinder(mounted) and lens cover. Audio gear is one of the most fun areas of our store for both customers and staff here at Electronic Parts Outlet- Houston. These two systems together are a great simple example of and audio setup. The top is a Sony digital CD player CDP-610ES which is a really nice player with great sound output and the other Sony FM Stereo receiver STR-GX6ES. In tandem these to systems can make a great audio system with a few good speakers. But these just serve to represent all the many different setups you can create with systems here in the store. You'll never know how amazing of a setup you can create until you come by the store and checkout what we have!

We had an exciting Sunday as store volunteers helped with some maintenance issues on our store robot. We machined new bushings to take up slack in the drive train chains which were less than a half-link too long, but enough to create back lash. Issues with the robot's "voice" were also addressed that corrected an impedance mismatch that allows for a much stronger voice. Overall a great and productive day!

Our friends with Innovation Spark just wrapped up another robot build of 3 combat robots here at Electronic Parts Outlet - Houston today! The group appears to have had a really good time learning how to solder and assemble their robots. Unfortunately, the participants of this class snuck out before we could get a group photo with the finished robots. So instead we have a group photo of the coordinators and mentors. Out next robot build is planned for July 20th, 2024

While we are not typically an art dealer, Electronic Parts Outlet - Houston somehow accumulates rather unique and special things. Today we are featuring Laurel and Hardy sculpture set on a four wheel cycle. This British-American comical duo were known for performing comedy routines from the silent movie era into the 1950's. The sculpture depicting these guys is amazing. The detail and character captured is first class on this large figures even if you don't know the story behind the characters. This would make a great exhibit for home or office, perhaps even in a classy restaurant.
