The AVON 39 The Walk to End Breast Cancer is April 22-23, 2017 and the Lester & Sue Smith Breast Center Baylor College of Medicine has run the medical tent for 10 years now! We need volunteers to help in the medical tent! For this walk, more than 1,000 walkers complete a two-day, 39-mile journey and we will provide all the medical care. Led by Dr. Stacey Carter, Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery, medical volunteers will help care for the walkers, which can include protection from blisters, dehydration and other special circumstances.

The shifts we need help with are:

Saturday: 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm 4:00 pm – 9:00pm

Sunday: 6:00 am – 8:30 am

Funds raised during the Avon Walk go to support breast cancer awareness and education, screening and diagnosis, access to treatment, support services and scientific research. Improving care for the medical underserved is a major priority for the Avon organization.
