Discover how the Tibetan understanding of well-being can enrich our mind-body practices, and our everyday lives.
In the face of difficulties – a decision we don't want to make, a conversation we might be dreading – it's natural to feel threatened, and to want to feel safe. Sometimes, we accomplish this by closing our hearts – even when the changes we want mean when we need to bring those needs into the light. Join us as we learn tools for opening our hearts using different methods, and together, we will take time to integrate the sense of completeness developed through these practices through group practice and discussion.

Use classical music to facilitate a connection with your inner resources, and to open creative pathways to dealing with challenging times 🎶
Rooted in a Jungian perspective, The Bonny Method allows for understanding and releasing impediments to creative expression and problem solving. Led by trainer Ginger Clarkson, we will first receive a brief historical and philosophical overview of the method. Then we'll move through the four stages of a Guided Imagery and Music session ourselves: setting an intention, relaxing the body and focusing the mind, traveling on an inner journey evoked by selections of inspired classical music, and integrating the experience through drawing and discussion.
No musical or artistic experience is necessary to participate.

Extending our arms is an important part of everyday functioning. Reaching high to grab something, reaching out for a hug, reaching down to pick up a bag. These all seem like simple, everyday movements – until they’re not.
Through simple, gentle movement sequences led by Feldenkrais practitioner Gika Rector, we will explore ways to reach out more simply and easily, and maybe even leave being able to reach a bit farther. No previous experience is necessary. Please wear comfortable clothing, and be willing to lie on the floor.

Care for the sacred aspects of yourself with these basics from ancient Tibetan spiritual traditions🧘♂️
Many wisdom traditions describe the flow of energy within the body, which is vital for both physical and spiritual well-being. But most of us have never learned about this powerful layer of our experience. In this series by Claire Villarreal, PhD, we’ll learn about Tibetan teachings on the structure of the vajra (or subtle) body, and some simple but profound meditations to help us tune into and recharge the body’s energy, and get out of our own way so it can flow more freely.

Be both creative and mindful as we create something beautiful from origami paper.
Origami technique requires precise attention and patience, but as Rie Kojima Angeli leads us through repeating the same folds over and over again, the process becomes easier, less stressful, and even soothing. Choose which paper feels right for you and, after much folding, you will leave calmer, and with your own piece of art!

P.S. If you can't make this class, not to worry! Rie will be leading another origami class on May 4th.

Whether we notice it or not, rituals are a part of our everyday life. Experienced in connection with others or as part of a personal practice, intended to connect us to the sacred dimension or to our deep ancestral roots, a ritual can be helpful in giving us a renewed sense of self, or simply a moment to pause and reconnect.
One such ritual activity? Our daily cup of coffee! In this interactive morning workshop led by Alejandro Chaoul and MD Anderson Medical Director Gabriel Lopez, we will explore the potential health benefits of mindfully engaging in drinking our daily coffee, and learn some of the scientific benefits behind the beverage itself. Join us for the opportunity to use the experience of drinking coffee as a moment for meditation – bringing our attention inward, and pausing from the many distractions that surround us.
All coffee and ingredients will be provided! No need to bring anything but a readiness to learn and to connect with yourself and others.
