"These two beauties had been barn mates but were separated for a few months. This is was what happened when they saw each other at the horse park after their long absence from each other."

Art House Students at the MFAH. 5 years ago! Where are they now? I am always hoping their experiences as children builds up a true love of art and remains with them as a great memory.

Our Story

The Art House is a school of fine arts dedicated to classical and contemporary art training for chldren and adults. The unique methods of teaching initiated out of my personal experiences as a student and the formulation of steps I felt served to strengthen the process rather than confusing the student. These, I found were necessary to advance and succeed in the arts. A few months brainstorming was enough to set me on a path I would never had dreamed it would become my life and destiny.

The love of the classics and the refined methods of the earlier Masters drove me to read, study and practice some of the techniques I still practice and teach today. Understanding the development of new forms of art, the influences of history, events and different cultures and how they have affected the new methods is also my fascination and life study. I can’t stay behind the times! I refuse to dwell on the “already been done” and I feel the need to experiment and to pass on to my students each bit of information I come up with! I’ve been known to describe artists and their works as if I had been there with them 100...200 years ago! I feel I know them. I understand their art and the why of it.

The school opened it’s doors at The Rice Village on Morningside under the name The Village Art House, in 1990. In the three previous years I spent time building my curriculum and practicing teaching relatives and friends. From the beginning I was amazed to realize that students responded to me and my passion becoming artists themselves several years later. My daughter Nicole, my sons Tani, Carlos & Gianni, my nephew Alex, my niece Katrina. They all pursued art careers! They were my first students! I called that an incredible success!

Throughout the past 30 years there are hundreds of names and faces that cross my mind because of their dedicated personalities, love of art and finally their artistic and educational successes.... naming a few... Alex, Nicole, Ana, Laura, Lauren, Kellen, Addison, Valeria, Paige, Emily, Charlotte, Claire J. Chloe, Kristine, Zoe, Sohie, Sofia M. , Carlos W, Alan R, Gabriela, Nina, Cole, Maddy I, Madeleine M, Claire V, Elizabeth B, Katherine, Alejandra S, Stephanie, Luisa, Lexey D, Laurie, Elizabeth D, Lindsey L, and so many more.....
