I hope you all had an amazing holiday and are preparing for the new year! Despite the world of Covid crashing down around us we have many of our patients that still have lofty fitness goals for 2022 and we love it! To celebrate a new year of health and fitness we want to give you the best chance to succeed. I want to let you in on a little secret….here at Sculpt U, our busiest time of year is February and March! Why is this??? We believe that people often have the best intentions starting out their new year’s fitness goals with diets, classes and intense training programs, BUT do not always have the movement capacity that these programs require which often result in injuries. These injuries typically do not show up in month 1 (unless there is some type of trauma), but rather will show up in month 2 and month 3 due to repetitive microtrauma. Many diagnoses we will see as a result are tendonitis, bursitis, sciatica and muscle strains. Wouldn’t it be nice to know where your deficits were before you started your journey?! What if we could fix the problem before it even started? That is why we are offering our Merry Fitmas Movement and Pain Diagnostic one last time before the year ends. Normally $250 - This Fitmas Season Only $97! Click here to learn more and start your year off RIGHT! https://www.sculptupt.com/merryfitmas-5170 In Good Health, Dr. Ryan Ardoin

Last Peloton Tip! I am about all Peletoned out 🤢 but wanted to share one last easy exercise that I used to get me out of my hip funk. I know you feel like you want to stretch out those hip flexors and that is ok, I do that too. However, a more effective strategy is to start to strengthen and do it as soon as you can. Again, we are trying to increase the hip flexors ability to load and fire WITHOUT over working and going into a protective spasm. The huge intense bike rides may be too much demand right now. It may have to be cut out for now and slowly reintroduced as things improve (last resort). This is one I started early where I was starting to fire the raised hip flexor isometrically as I band try’s to pull out of that flexed position. Tips: 🔑keep low back flat to the floor 🔑flex the effected hip to the point where you start to feel the pinch 🔑5 second hold x 10 We would stay here till the pinchy hip could tolerate more dynamic Movement and then dynamic movement with load. Give it a try and work it into your routine. Rehab like an Athlete. By an Athlete. One on One. If you would like to work with us in the clinic we are still open, or DM us to set up a virtual consult.

[Are you feeling numbness in your last two fingers?...consider this] Ulnar nerve entrapment occurs when the ulnar nerve in the arm becomes compressed or irritated. The ulnar nerve is one of the three main nerves in your arm. It travels from your neck down into your hand, and can be constricted in several places along the way, such as beneath the collarbone or at the wrist. The most common place for compression of the nerve is behind the inside part of the elbow. Ulnar nerve compression at the elbow is called "cubital tunnel syndrome." Using electro-dry needling today in the clinic as a powerful reset before we start to mobilize soft tissue. We are still open at our River Oaks Location but also available via telehealth. Drop us a DM if you want to be treated one on one in the clinic or virtually. “Rehab like an Athlete. By an Athlete. One on One.”

[Don’t do another hip flexor stretch before you WATCH THIS] Stop wasting your time on all the passive stretching and foam rolling. It’s not working and not going to work no matter how uncomfortable you make it. Let’s actually let your body learn something like how to fire muscles into a new end range like we did here taken from one of our “Reset. Correct. Connect.” Low back rejuvenation protocols. 💰Tips: keep hip bones one the floor, brace through the core and see if you can pace yourself through a nice deep breath at end range. Until next Time...Sculpt Yoself!
