Harris County Precinct One Cooling Centers and Distribution Sites are OPEN for the community. is serving as both for the and surrounding areas. We encourage anyone who needs a place to cool off to take advantage of this resource. Stay safe and cool!

All Precinct One community centers, parks, and facilities will be closed on Tuesday, July 9.

We are thrilled to offer the Compudopt Houston Boys STEM Camp, aimed at offering immersive, hands-on learning opportunities in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math. Led by experienced educators and industry experts, our camp provides participants with a chance to dive into a variety of topics through fun activities and projects.

Juneteenth, also known as Independence Day, is an American holiday that commemorates the June 19, 1865 announcement of the abolition of slavery in Texas, and more generally the emancipation of enslaved African Americans throughout the former Confederate States of America. Juneteenth is celebrated as a day of freedom and liberation for Black Americans and is recognized as a day of reflection, education, and celebration of African American culture and heritage. Happy Juneteenth!

Lanre Buraimoh is a Nigerian artist who was trained by his parents and draws inspiration from the ancient city of Osogbo. His bead painting technique showcases Yoruba symbols and themes such as traditional beliefs, love, entertainment, animals and unity. Lanre has exhibited his work in various countries and has won international awards for his art. In 2019, he was selected as one of the Houston Artadia Fellows. Lanre also conducts art workshops for children and adults in Houston.

The community is invited to attend an art reception in honor of Artist, Lanre Buraimoh at Julia C. Hester House on Thursday, June 13 at 4 p.m.

In partnership with Harris County Precinct One, we are offering a cooling center open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Water distribution will be provided from 11 a.m. until supplies run out. Please limit one case of water per family.
