We are thrilled to offer the Compudopt Houston Boys STEM Camp, aimed at offering immersive, hands-on learning opportunities in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math. Led by experienced educators and industry experts, our camp provides participants with a chance to dive into a variety of topics through fun activities and projects.

Juneteenth, also known as Independence Day, is an American holiday that commemorates the June 19, 1865 announcement of the abolition of slavery in Texas, and more generally the emancipation of enslaved African Americans throughout the former Confederate States of America. Juneteenth is celebrated as a day of freedom and liberation for Black Americans and is recognized as a day of reflection, education, and celebration of African American culture and heritage. Happy Juneteenth!
Lanre Buraimoh is a Nigerian artist who was trained by his parents and draws inspiration from the ancient city of Osogbo. His bead painting technique showcases Yoruba symbols and themes such as traditional beliefs, love, entertainment, animals and unity. Lanre has exhibited his work in various countries and has won international awards for his art. In 2019, he was selected as one of the Houston Artadia Fellows. Lanre also conducts art workshops for children and adults in Houston.
The community is invited to attend an art reception in honor of Artist, Lanre Buraimoh at Julia C. Hester House on Thursday, June 13 at 4 p.m.

In recent days, our community has seen an outpouring of support from various organizations and individuals. We greatly appreciate our Commissioner Rodney Ellis and Harris County Precinct One for their assistance in providing residents of with supplies and access to cooling centers. Thanks to these efforts, we have been able to distribute food and water to thousands of households. Additionally, we have transformed into a cooling and charging center for Fifth Ward residents, with the help of AT&T who supplied the charging stations and Houston Food Bank for providing food. Cooling Center will be open Friday from 10 am-5pm. We are !
Come by Hester House TODAY for a place to charge your phone and grab some refreshing water for your family. Thanks to a generous donation from Walmart, we will have water available for the community from 1pm until supplies run out. Cooling Center Hours (10 am- 5pm) daily.
Are you still without power and in need of water? Stop by Hester House today. In partnership with Harris County Precinct One, we are offering a cooling center open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Water distribution will be provided from 11 a.m. until supplies run out. Please limit one case of water per family.
