Congratulations to Team Caplico of 早稲田大学 Waseda University for winning the second ULI Hines Student Competition Asia Pacific.

Their thoughtful proposal, The BioChem Frontier, reimagines Tokyo's former Tsukiji Fish Market site as a dual-purpose destination -- a well-accessible tourist attraction and an innovation hub for biochemistry start-ups.

"Young people are demanding more sustainable futures. This competition provides an ideal platform to inspire them to make that happen. Congratulations to Team Meander from Georgia Institute of Technology on winning the 22nd annual Urban Land Institute Hines Student Design Competition!

Their plan to redevelop a site in downtown Seattle was selected over 59 entries from teams representing 23 universities across the United States and Canada, securing the $50,000 grand prize.

The winning team, comprised of Grace Kunst, Brooke Blankenship, Vivian Lin, Noah Stogner, and Arthur Santos Miranda (pictured with Hines Senior Managing Director Ty Bennion on the far left and jury chair Jeff Baxter on the far right), created a mixed-use concept with community, equity, and sustainability at the forefront of its design, including 100% timber-built buildings, an homage to the Pacific Northwest’s logging past.
