The GRB welcomed thousands of parasports enthusiasts with disabilities this past weekend for the 13th annual Metal and Muscle Expo.

Houston parasport expo Metal and Muscle fosters connections for people with disabilities The event is a training ground for athletes vying for the Paralympics and newcomers to adaptive sports, but also fosters independence and community.
The GRB welcomes the City of Houston Parks & Recreation department, Texas Parasport and the Houston Adapted Sports Club as they host the Metal and Muscle Expo this weekend.

The GRB will welcome the IMAGE Expo on October 27th and 28th! According to the organization’s website, this is a full-service beauty event that caters to all beauty professionals.

The International Quilt Festival, which is hosted at the GRB, is less than a month away! This year’s event runs October 31st through November 3rd.
According to the International Quilt Festival's website, festival attendees can enjoy “shopping at more than 700 booths for quilts, fabric, supplies, and crafts, along with 350 classes and lectures for all experience levels. Festival features more than 1,200 quilts and unique works of textile art on display.”

Today the GRB welcomed the Texas Society of Architects/AIA for their 85th Annual Conference and Design Expo!
According to the organizations website, the conference will include with educational sessions, tours, and special events that provide architects the opportunity to fulfill required credits for licensure, network, and more.

Taking it back to the Texaco Grand Prix of Houston! From 1998 to 2001 the Championship Auto Racing Teams hosted this race on the downtown streets now known as Avenida de Las Americas. Check out the different look of the GRB from when the Texaco Grand Prix of Houston took place to this year when the Red Bull Showrun came to the city.

Did you know the GRB opened its doors on September 26, 1987? The building was named for internationally recognized entrepreneur, engineer, and civic leader George Rufus Brown (1898-1983), who donated six of the blocks necessary to build it. Today the GRB ranks among the 10 largest convention centers in the nation with 1.9 million usable square feet.
