Juneteenth marks the day when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, in 1865 to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people were freed. This day is an important reminder of our history, the progress that has been made, and the work that still needs to be done to create a more just and fair society.

Stay active to keep your body and mind healthy! Here are some easy ways to add more movement into your day:

Take Short Walks: A 10-minute walk after meals can boost your mood and energy.
Stretch Regularly: Stretching helps improve flexibility and reduce stress. Try some gentle stretches when you wake up and before bed.
Move During TV Time: Do some light exercises, like squats or leg lifts, while watching your favorite shows.
Use the Stairs: Skip the elevator and take the stairs whenever you can. It’s a great way to get your heart pumping.

Remember, every little bit of movement counts. Let’s stay active and healthy together!

⚠️ You should NEVER leave children unattended in a car during mild to hot weather. It can be extremely dangerous and even deadly.

⚠️ The temperature inside a vehicle can rise quickly, even on mild days, and become much hotter than the outside temperature. This can cause heatstroke, dehydration, and other health problems for children left inside for even a short period.

⚠️ Children are particularly vulnerable to these risks because their bodies heat up faster than adults, and they are less able to regulate their body temperature.

⚠️ It is never safe to leave a child unattended in a car, even if the windows are cracked or the air conditioning is on. Always take your children with you when leaving the car.
