Alley Theatre is thrilled to be a recipient of the Doris Duke Foundation Performing Arts Technologies Lab Grant! With the support of the grant, Alley Theatre aims to develop new methods of artistic collaboration using Virtual and Augment Reality technology. The Simulated Environment for Theatrical Staging (S.E.T.S.) will enable artists and technicians to collaborate in the context of the stage space remotely or in person, and allow the collaborators to make important decisions that effect the design, safety and budget of the show before fabrication begins. We hope this research and development will fuel new forms of collaboration in a world of remote interactions and new paradigms for our industry that embrace smart decision making and respecting the time and well being of all those involved in the creative process.
