And so today begins another path in my “Journey That is Golf”… That is Life. I’ve accepted the Assistant Golf Professional Gig . First day behind a counter in MANY years! Yes, will still be doing some instruction as well but on a more limited basis. I’m looking forward to this new opportunity at my golf course with a great staff and team!

Fun Olympics golf. The usual contenders!!! Most Olympian’s don’t get 3-4 days to improve their score. Most are one and done! I think a Monday team event for medals 🥇 would be big TV! Low scoring! A scramble, schamble, better ball format! Gives everyone another shot at gold!! And a TV golf spectacle!!! Just my two cents!

Had 5 students this week say “I watched a vid about turning the hips on the downswing “!!😩😫🤬. You CANT WATCH a video that may not even apply to your swing!!!!!!! Golf is not a DIY homes fix!
- they all had poor low point control/ contact issues
- they were all steep and OTT
- they all scooped or flipped
- they all “spun out”
Here’s with a pretty good sequence of forward/ lateral before hip turn

- low point is TIGHT!
- arms structure throughout p3, 7, 8

Excuse my ramblings here… but I’ve always tried to be forward and honest!!..
P7… the moment of truth… impact! LIFE is about certain “Moments of Truth!!”
I moved to FL in 2014.
My brain said NOOO!!! My gut and heart were full steam ahead!!!
My Dream was to prep for Champions Tour. Well… I didn’t. I missed US SR open by a shot at age 51! 🤬 through a series of unfortunate events and my instructor Rick Bradshaw cancer death (🙏🏼🙏🏼.. miss him daily)
I Started PMGA at Heritage isles in Tampa in 2016. To go full in was a financial debacle. Lost my a$$ in the first 18 months … my mantra was
Faith (in my self)
Hope (in my future)
Trust (in my decisions)
Field of Dreams… Build it and they will come!!!
And eventually they did to where I was 70 people per week for 30,45,or 60 min lessons. Covid golf boom was a boom 💥 for me too!
Sooo… fast forward to August 2022. Time to move back to 🧀 land and .
Groundhog Day! 🤣🤣
Financial debacle !!!! but all of the other elements (family, kids, g-kids) were / are so wonderful!!!
It was a year before I did 30 people in a week! I’m definitely in panic mode last summer. Thinking a new career… but I always said give it two years…
Soooo.. faith, hope, trust; Build it; they will come. Patience, perseverance, purpose, passion; positive attitude!!!
18 months later I’m filling weekly on 1 hour only lessons.
I’ve often said to myself… what dumba$$ leaves one of the busiest teaching academies in Fl to start over at age 56????🤷🏼🤷🏼
Well it’s a dumba$$ that wants to be back with his kids, his g-kids, his family.. to come HOME!
Moral of this little tale? I’ve learned to follow my gut and heart. My brain can think later. When you make a decision contemplate all 3 realms… brain, gut, heart. I think your happiness lies in the last two.

Fun Day with doing a photo/ video shoot with inventor/ owner Dave Swanson. We did stills, instructional/ tutorial vids and an “infomercial” format video.
First time I’ve done something like this!!!

1984 RFHS Conference Champs to a 2024 meeting. The youngster is my GM / Director of Golf , Scott Landin. The bearded dude, Tim Thompson, I played 100’s of rounds of golf with in High School and I haven’t seen him for 35 years or so!!! Tim is in town with and I’m helping him out tomorrow and Saturday . Pretty cool day!!!!🙏🏼

Our AGM hitting a few toe- thinnies… common miscues to look for if you hit -
Thin/ fat
Toe hooks
Flip hooks
Pulls
- head movement/ sway/ slide
- trail foot pop
What happens? If the head/ center slides to trail side; too much weight trail foot; head stays back and under too much so you throw the hands and clubhead at the ball. ALSO because the weight is on the trail foot we have more tendency to PUSH up and off of it …. Causes the trail leg to collapse, the hips to open to fast , the Clubface to rotate to quickly (the path gets to left or the face closes; look at ball start line)

2 Steady heady
3 Flat footed longer
4 Control the low point and stabilize the face

- Massive “Reverse C” from my heroes; Nicklaus, Miller, Watson! (Almost put me out of the game by 1990!!!!!!). BACK PAIN!

** clubhead speed unknown since we had NO technology! 🤣. My guess is 90-95 mph. Ave drive 230-240.

(About a 15 year search from age 35-50 to save back and then the last 7 yrs a lot of work on swing structure to save my back into my late 50’s and beyond! )

- none of my shoes even have any type of rubber/ plastic spike. Mostly “tennis shoe style”

Next year will be my 50th year of playing golf. My dad took me out first when I was 8. Looking forward to my “Best year Ever!”

Happy Thanksgiving! I’m truly Thankful this year! In 2014, it was “time to move to Florida”. In august of 2022, it was “Time to come home!” My 9 years in Florida allowed me the opportunity to rebuild, renew, and re-find myself.
This past 15 months have allowed me to renew and strengthen my bonds as Dad, Grappa, Son, Brother, Uncle.
- to focus more on others in my life and support them
- to rebuild my business at White Eagle
- to reacquaint with friends
This holiday season I encourage you to take some time; some reflection; some introspection to appreciate what you have and worry less about what you don’t have!

Happy Thanksgiving. I’m truly thankful this year! I moved back to 🧀 land in August of ‘22 after living in FL for 9 years. In 2014, a change in life was needed! This past year has been one of renewing, rebuilding, rejoining. I enjoyed my time in FL but “It was TIME to go home!”
- To be Dad, Grappa, son, brother, uncle! To be FAMILY!!
- To be back at White Eagle GC
- To rebuild a new business at age 57!!!🤷🏼
- To share my profession, passion, purpose with a new population of students
- To focus more on others in my life and support them…
