The past week was a little rough on the home side of things with loss of power for a few days and loss of sleep. Everything is getting more "normal". Hope that people are out enjoying the wonderful weather this Labor Day. See you tomorrow at the studio! Now, I'm going to go outside while I can :-)
Today it is HOT! Take care, drink water, take breaks, get out of the heat. Weather forecast says storms are coming and slowly a cool down.
As summer winds down, a reminder to ground yourself like a tree wherever you may be! The challenges of travel and ever changing schedules can take a toll. Need a tune up for an achy back or neck? Myofascial work may be able to help with that!

As we say goodbye to the end of July it's hot and humid. Lots of sweating going on if you do anything outside. Please remember to take more frequent breaks, cool off and hydrate to prevent heat related injuries and dehydration. Be sure to not leave kids, elderly people or pets in cars for any amount of time. It gets really really hot really really fast and can be deadly in no time at all.
Wanted to quickly share this before leaving for the office. I know many people struggle with anxiety. I came across this blog earlier this morning. Any tools you can remember to use to help yourself are good!

A relief! The exits on and off of I94 at the Hudson WI bridge over the St Croix River are now OPEN. Road construction of course, continues in the Woodbury/Oakdale area until Fall. One day at a time :-)
Welcome to the First Day of Summer!
A tip for those athletic Dad's out there with back pain on Father's Day. I no longer remember where I found this :-)
Had a great time with this awesome team of massage therapists today working with the Reality Riders in Hinkley at the halfway point of the MS150.
Welcome, June! Must mean the MS150 is just around the corner....

One week from today is Memorial Day - the unofficial start of summer and summer vacations. Remember to schedule your summer MFR appointments and plan extra time if your route includes road construction.
For anyone traveling on I94 near the St Croix River: From Hudson WI westbound, stay in the "Exit" lane for 95North/94 West. You go down the ramp and back up the ramp. From Woodbury MN eastbound, stay in the "Exit" lane for Stillwater. You go down the ramp and back up the ramp, still on 94 East. This will make the drive a little more bearable, no need to reduce to one lane. 🙂
Spring/Summer things: Flowers, showers, mowers, fire pits, road construction and Mother's Day on Sunday. Whew! If all the pollen, dust and temperature changes are triggering headaches or migraines, cranial techniques in MFR can help!
What do humming, meditation, a cat purring and MFR all have in common? They can all be beneficial to vagus nerve function. Images have a little more info on cranial nerve X and are from the anatomy text back in massage school. For more info, look up polyvagel theory.
Today is Earth Day. A reminder of something we should do every day: take care of the earth and everything/everyone on it. Image found on Pixabay.
Well, it's that time again. If you're coming from the west (Woodbury, Oakdale, St. Paul-ish) plan on alternate routes or extra time. I94 is one lane going east. Have a good day.
Continuing education this weekend was good. Getting ready for seeing clients this week and preparing for this event coming next week.

Tuesday's spots will disappear by morning. Have a great week!
Extreme weather changes like we've had the past couple of weeks can trigger aches, pains and migraines. Need help? Check out the website and decide if myofascial release work is for you. Enjoy Spring! If you celebrate, Happy Easter! Photo meme found on Facebook.
Welcome to Spring on the calendar, never mind what the weather is doing today... Here's the March newsletter, enjoy (and stay warm)!
Welcome to Calendar Spring Have an awesome start to your spring – turn the clocks ahead March 10th, enjoy some luck of the Irish on St. Patrick’s Day, celebrate the first day of spring on March 19th and if you celebrate Easter enjoy that on Sunday March 31st.
On my mind and heart tonight are all the living ones, human and fur-baby, that have passed over recently that have affected so many of the lives of friends, family and clients. Grief is painful. Love never dies, it changes form. Perhaps this poem I found a while ago will give some solace. Belief in a better place after we all cross the "Rainbow Bridge" gives hope. Peace.
If you live in MN, please go vote tomorrow (Tuesday). Also, clocks go ahead on Sunday, start to adjust now by setting your alarm 10 minutes earlier each day, makes it a bit easier!

JF Barnes Myofascial Release - Serving Humans & Horses
Massage & energy work "found" me. In 2010 I signed up for massage school at St. Croix Center For The Healing Arts. By 2014, I had saved enough to try my first class of John Barnes Myofascial Release. I have since taken many more classes, participate in study groups and in short, I found my preferred form of bodywork. I am considered an “Advanced” level JFB MFR therapist. A full listing of the training I’ve taken is listed on my website here: http://chrisa.massagetherapy.com/about-the-practitioner
My personal story is given briefly on my website, but suffice it to say that I've been through some serious injuries and MFR (that's short for Myofascial Release) has been wonderful for my own healing process on all levels: Physical, Mental & Emotional.
MFR is a type of therapeutic bodywork working with the fascial system that is both gentle & highly effective. Done with the client clothed. May be helpful with resolving back, shoulder, neck, head, foot, wrist & systemic pain issues.
If you have questions or are considering working with me, I encourage scheduling a half hour free consultation.
