French Louise Frames always need a lot more cut downs throughout the frame to make it work for the new painting or the new space it is going to have to fit within. In this case we had 3 centers on the long sides which meant slicing 8 times on the long sides. I am pretty sure 20 cuts on a frame to be resized is the most I have ever had but it is always nice to see a frame getting a new purpose.
I don’t always get that lucky when a frame needs to be resized to fit the painting! This beautiful Italien cassette frame worked out beautifully. So many times many inches of ornament have to be replaced in order to slice sections in between and space out the difference. In this case the medallions lined up with the square corner ornament sections.
An original 1909 Carrig Rohane frame was just sold at auction. My version I made 20 years ago for my masters is a gesso carved version unlike the original which is of course wood carved.
Verre eglomise. Gilded in white gold 6karat and palladium
Eglomise gilding on glass and plexiglass sphere
Happy New Year! Wishing you a peaceful year filled with laughter, love and endless possibilities!
Gilded “mirror paintings”. Gilded with yellow gold, palladium, black oxidized silver, white gold 6karat, lemon gold and marbled green silver leaves. Mirrors will never not reflect. Mirrors always make the place more spacious. Here you can chose a mirror but also chose not to only see the reflection!
Exciting to see the newly ordered dyed silver leaf color for playtime.
This eglomise mat reproduction came to me a few years ago. It has been the coolest challenge and most rewarding task up to now.

Come and find me at 545 Warren Street (second floor), say hello and check out my verre eglomise “paintings”. Verre eglomise is done by gilding various metal leaves on glass. Different gilding techniques and metal leaves allow you to create “paintings” with the addition of having mirror like qualities throughout the artwork.
Reverse gilding on glass with black oxidized silver in the background leaves you seeing the energy vibrating of the 23 karat gold and silvery metal leaves. Happy that I chose to use the black oxidation metal leaf for those.

Will need more play time with other metal leaves but all the main parts are in place.
Early beginnings
Just had a hummingbird hanging with me and feeding and chirping right next to me. Less than a foot away. ❤️
Eglomise.
Restored this beauty.
My smallest so far. Various metal leaves to create mirror paintings.
13 years in Hudson is coming up! I like to puzzle. Here for restoration purposes and really everything gilding. In my studio Thursday-Monday. Tuesday and Wednesday by chance or by appointment. As I am setting time aside for my own artwork I am trying to maintain somewhat of a gallery appearance. Restoration pieces do have a way of sometimes being part of the mix.
