RIP Francine Pascal, mastermind of the long-running, best-selling, and much-beloved Sweet Valley High series of young-adult books, who died Sunday in Manhattan at the age of 92.
Speaking with EW about the longevity of the SVH franchise, Pascal said, "The saying 'The more things change, the more things stay the same' really applies to those years. There's such similarity, no matter how different today's teenager thinks she is. She's the same in here [points to her heart] and in here [points to her head] as I was — but the clothes are different."

Welcome to the final week of Waldo! Here are some good strategies to get your card filled up with 20 stamps & win some prizes! It is definitely not too late to start the hunt now, and you have plenty of time to fill up a half-completed sheet.

- This Saturday, 7/28, will be your last chance to hit the farmers market from 9:00-1:00. However, post-Waldo you have several delicious months left to visit the vendors there before the season ends.

- City Hall is open during weekday business hours only! Plan accordingly!!

- It works well to group several locations that are near each other on one day of hunting. The 700, 500, 400, 300 and 200 blocks have multiple Waldo-hosting businesses you can hit in rapid succession. And each of these blocks has at least one location where you can hydrate and/or snack, which is always a good thing.

- It works well to start or end with a location off the beaten path or on the way in/out of town. For example, the Farmers Market is a fantastic place to get an early start on Saturday. Vasilow’s is a good stop if you are driving out of town, as generally parking is easy and any chocolate you acquire won’t melt in the heat while you are on the hunt.

- Places open after 5:00 on *MOST* weekdays - Spotty Dog, Little Pickles, Flowerkraut, 225 Scoops, Rev, Hudson Clothier, MOTO, Rebus, Steiner’s

- Weekend-centric places to hit as follows:
- Tanzy’s - Thursday to Sunday 8:00 until noon. Get a delicious breakfast to fuel up for the rest of the hunt.
- Red Dot - open for dinner & drinks Monday, Thursday & Friday starting at 5:00 BUT also on weekends get your brunch on from 11:00-3:00.

Locations open the final day: Vasilow’s, Rev, Flowerkraut, Little Pickles, Supernatural, City Hall, Second Show, Hudson Area Library, Hudson Clothier, MOTO, Rebus, Hudson Hall, Steiner’s, Social Type, 225 Scoops, Verdigris, Wm Farmer & Sons

Get out there & get ‘er done!

Is the committed to big corporate sponsors or to helping small businesses? Letting Amazon sponsor National Small Business Week – especially when Amazon is under investigation for anticompetitive practices that have harmed small businesses – certainly raises that question. And if they don’t dump Amazon from the event, I think we know the answer.

Keep National Small Business Week small!
Small businesses need support from sponsors who have their best interests at heart. With the FTC investigating Amazon for
anti-competitive practices that have hurt small business, Amazon's co-sponsorship of the National Small Business Week is a bad look for SBA.
