The question I get asked the most is "how do I clean my rug?" . Spot cleaning is my answer. The image below is of the rug I bring to every show. People are walking on it all day (and the last show it was MUDDY out). I brought it home, took a damp wash cloth with a little dish soap on it, and gently scrubbed away everything. Now it looks good as new!
In the comments I will post what happened to a pair that I threw into the washing machine for 5 cycles on heavy duty. They came out clean and mostly intact (a little fraying , and the backing bunched a little). All in all they came out okay, so in case of a pet accident or other more serious stains, there is an emergency option as well.
