Monday Midwife spotlight returns! Meet our newest midwife Jaclynn Chen!💜 Jaclynn has been a Certified Nurse-Midwife since 2023, after graduating from Downstate Health Science University. Jaclynn earned her first bachelor’s degree in Women’s Studies and Biology along with a Master in Public Health from Stony Brook University. She continued her education at Columbia University, where she earned her second bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Prior to joining the Huntington Midwives, Jaclynn worked the last 8 years as Perinatal Nurse Clinician at a Regional Perinatal Center in NYC.

Jaclynn strongly believes that midwives are an integral part of the solution to the U.S maternal health crisis, delivering equitable care that advocates for the needs of the individual. Trusting in the physiologic process of childbirth, Jaclynn is passionate about bridging the gap between evidence-based care and promoting the physiologic birthing process.

Outside of being a Midwife, Jaclynn is an avid runner, snowboarder, and FRIENDS fanatic. You can find her hanging out with her favorites, Rex and Ralph 🐶🐶 or having a home cooked Burmese meal with her family. Fun fact, she recently volunteered at the NYC marathon at the breast pumping stations helping lactating runners meet their marathon goals!

Jaclynn is honored to be the newest member of the Huntington Midwives as she grows her practice surrounded by compassionate Midwives. Honored and humbled to be invited to many families’ birthing & health stories, Jaclynn is excited to help make the most informed decision that is best for you and your family and feel loved and supported in the process 🥰.

Today, many Christians around the world will celebrate Easter, a cheerful holiday commemorating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ and marking what is considered to be the most holy and significant time of the Christian church calendar.

For Christians, remembering the Resurrection of Jesus is a way to strengthen hope that we have victory over sin. The holiday follows a 40-day period of fasting called Lent, during which churches set aside time for repentance and remembrance of family members who have passed away.

The Easter season, which continues until Ascension Thursday, signifies a period of thanksgiving and renewal for Christians, and is a time when loved ones come together to share meals and carry out traditions involving candy, the Easter rabbit and Easter egg hunts. During the week before Easter, known as Holy Week, Christians recall the events leading up to Jesus’ crucifixion and Resurrection. Holy Week includes several days of special significance, including Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday.

The Roman Catholic and Protestant churches celebrate Easter on the first Sunday following the paschal full moon, which is the full moon that falls on or after the vernal (spring) equinox. For many Eastern (Orthodox) Christian churches that follow the Julian Calendar, the date is calculated differently. This year, the Orthodox Christian churches will observe Easter on Sunday, May 5.

To all who celebrate, best wishes for a happy Easter.

Habari Gani!!! Wishing everyone a Blessed Kwanzaa filled with joy, unity, and positivity as you celebrate the principles of Kwanzaa: unity, self-determination, collective work & responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith.
✨🕊️

In the warmth of unity, Kwanzaa’s light does gleam,
Seven candles brightly burning, a shared ancestral dream.
Umoja binds us tightly, family and community,
Kujichagulia speaks of choices, our identity in unity.

Ujima’s call to action, collective work we share,
Ujamaa’s threads of purpose, woven with mindful care.
Nia guides our purpose, with faith and determination,
Kuumba sparks creativity, a vibrant celebration.

Imani, the foundation, faith that never wanes,
Kwanzaa’s timeless rhythm, in our hearts remains.
