The final day of the 2023 SWAC Indoor Track & Field Championship is completed. Overall the Women’s placed 7th and the Men’s placed 10th. What a championship to finish out the season with some of our bulldog student-athletes getting the job done.

On the Women’s Side:
Our leader in running events is Sophomore Miss Victoya Smith who placed 🥉overall in the 60m (7.56) and 8th overall in the 200m (24.88). Right behind Smith, we have Senior Miss Aneisha Ingram who placed 4th overall in the 1 Mile (5:10.82) and 8th overall in the 5000m (19:58.82). The Women’s in the 4x400 finish 5th overall (3:49.30).
Our leader in field events is Junior Briana Cox who placed 7th overall in the Weight Throw (15.36m|50ft 4.75in). Right behind Cox, we have Sophomore Miss Ta’ Nya Burnett who placed 9th overall in a back-to-back jumping events, Long Jump (5.35m|17ft 6.75in) & Triple Jump (11.32m|37ft 1.75in).

On the Men’s Side:
Our leader in running events is Freshman Talil Atkins who placed 5th overall in the 400m (48.30). Right behind Atkins, we have Senior Brandon McLaren who placed 7th overall in the 60mh (8.35). The Men’s in the 4x400 finish 4th overall (3:16.55) with a NEW AAMU SCHOOL RECORD!!!!!👏🏾🔥
Our leader in field events is Senior Isaiah McCaulley who placed 7th overall in the Weight Throw (15.51m|50ft 10.75in). Right behind McCaulley, we have Freshman Ezekiel Salama who placed 8th overall in the Weight Throw (15.50m|50ft 10.25in).

Day 1 2023 SWAC Indoor Track & Field Championship is completed. What an outstanding start off for our student-athletes, placing in the Top 10 today. To start off, we have Miss Ajanae Cressey finishing 3rd in the Pentathlon. Cressey competed in the 60m hurdles, High Jump, Long Jump, Shot Put, and the 800m. Cressey wasn’t the only one on the podium, with the Women’s DMR finishing 2nd overall. The student-athletes who competed in the WDMR are Miss De’ Ajene Johnson, Miss Taylor Wingo, Miss Aneisha Ingram, & Miss Kendyl Hawkins. DMR is a relay combine of the 1000m x 400m x 800m x 1Mile. Lastly, we have the Men’s DMR finishing in the Top-10 coming in 7th overall. The student-athletes who competed in the MDMR were Kyle Graham, Lawrence Armstead, Leslie Jones, & Eric Brannon. Congratulations to our student-athletes that competed today. Day 2 starts tomorrow at 8:30am with Women’s Weight Throw.

December 2nd, 2022, Our bulldogs competed in the 2022 BSC Indoor Icebreaker at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Alabama, as the start of the 2022-2023 Indoor Season. This meet was an excellent start for our bulldogs, as we have a couple of outstanding performances.

On the Women’s Side, we have Sophomore Victoya Smith, who leads the top track performance with her 1st Place overall finish in the 60m with a time of 7.63 in finals. Right behind Smith, in the 400m, Senior Olivia Andrews placed 2nd overall with a time of 57.71, and Freshman Laila Gaynor placed 3rd overall with a time of 57.90. Even with individual performances, our 4x400 team (Laila Gaynor, Victoya Smith, Olivia Andrews, & Kendyl Hawkins) finished first overall with a time of 3:52.83.

On the field side, we have Sophomore Ta’ Nya Burnett, who leads the top field performance with her 7th Place overall finish in the Long Jump with a distance of 5.23m.

On the Men’s Side, We have Freshman Talil Atkins, who leads the top track performance with his 1st Place overall finish in the 400m with a time of 48.76. Atkins wasn’t the only one that finished top 10 in the 400m; we also have Freshman Kody Pugh finishing 5th Place overall with a time of 49.41. Next, we have two top-ten finishers Senior Brandon McLaren placed 4th overall with a time of 8.27, and Sophomore Tyler Pitts placed 6th overall with a time of 8.36 in the 60m hurdles. Also, the 4x400 team (Kody Pugh, Talil Atkins, Shawn Guerrier, & Kyle Graham) finished 3rd overall with a time of 3:19.36.

On the field side, we have Senior Isaiah McCaulley, who leads the top field performance with his 4th Place overall finish in the Weight Throw with a distance of 16.00m, and behind McCaulley we Freshman Ezekiel Salama placed 9th overall with a distance of 14.07. The throwers were not the only ones with top-10 performances on the field side; we also have Senior Brandon McLaren placed 7th overall with a distance of 13.72m in the Triple Jump, and Freshman Lance Powell placed 5th overall with a distance of 6.90m in the Long Jump.

Great meet to start before the fall semester ends. Bulldogs will be back in the spring semester as they train during the Christmas Break for the next meet at the 13 HBCU Challenge and Expo in New York, NY.

The 2022 SWAC Cross Country Championship was a success. The championship was held today in Tallahassee, Florida, at 9 a.m., with the lady bulldogs running the 5k. We have two bulldogs making the Top 10 which earned a spot as an All-SWAC Honoree. Our 3rd Place finish is Senior Aneisha Ingram earns the All-SWAC First Team. Right behind Ingram, our 10th Place finish is Junior Taylor Wingo makes the All-SWAC Second Team. The team finishes 6th Place overall. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE LADY BULLDOGS!!!!

At the Illustrious Alabama Agricultural & Mechanical University, our motto is “Service of Sovereignty.” Yesterday, our student-athletes had a great community service project at the Downtown Rescue Mission. The bulldogs helped set up and serve meals for those at the mission; also, they helped clean after serving the meals. Great day to volunteer for the community.

Competing against numerous Power 5 programs, Alabama A&M women's cross country placed 35-of-39 at the North Alabama Showcase on Friday, September 16, finishing with 1,136 points.

In a field that included the likes of Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Memphis and Mississippi State, senior Aneisha Ingram (Frankfield, Jamaica) led the Bulldogs with a 262-of-389 outing as she notched a time of 20:10.58.

Graduate Taylor Wingo (D'Iberville, Miss.) came in at 284 with a mark of 20:35.50 and sophomore De'Ajene Johnson (Detroit, Mich.) closed out the top performances at 340 with a season-best 22:36.20.

The Southeastern Conference claimed three of the top four spots with Alabama (73 points) taking the meet ahead of UK (78), the Atlantic Coast Conference's (ACC) Georgia Tech (110) and Auburn (125). Kennesaw State rounded out the top five on a course that will host the 2022 NCAA South Regional later this year.

The Bulldogs won't return to the course for nearly a month when they head to the home turf of meet winner Alabama. They will compete in the Crimson Classic on Friday, October 14 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

The Lady Bulldogs Opens 2022 Season with Seventh Place Finish at Belmont Open.

Senior Aneisha Ingram (Frankfield, Jamaica) led the Bulldogs with a 36-of-57 finish, crossing the line in a time of 20:53.33 while Junior Taylor Wingo (D'Iberville, Miss.) placed 39th at 21:33.01. Sophomore De'Ajene Johnson (Detroit, Mich.) rounded out the top performers in 51st with a time of 24:13.80.

Southeastern Conference foe Vanderbilt claimed the team title with 24 points, followed by host Belmont and Murray State at 35 and 97 points, respectively.

The Bulldogs are now off until heading to the North Alabama Showcase on Friday, September 16 in Florence, Alabama.

I believe I’ve gotten more disciplined in my diet, because I realize that as I get older, it’s not as easy for me to run/work the bad things off how I used to. It started to show in my workouts, so I had to be more conscientious of what I put into my body.

My favorite season of all time has to be when I was 15 years old. I qualified and competed at USATF Nationals in the 100m, 200m, 4x100m, & 4x400m. Although I didn’t place top 8, I was able to set a huge personal record in each events at one track meet.
