What makes KLA unique? KLA School of Huntsville follows the Reggio learning approach!
One aspect of the Reggio approach is that it considers the environment as a child’s third teacher (after the parent and teacher). The environment is considered an important factor in children’s learning. At KLA the environment is carefully planned and prepared, making it aesthetically pleasing and practical - which encourages children’s curiosity.
Last week, during professional development, our teachers worked hard to prepare the environment for the upcoming school year!

Thank you for supporting Kinder Comic Con! The kindergarten class treated themselves to a pizza party today! The children chose to give $75 of their earnings to Comic Books for Kids, a Chicago based organization that provides comics to children in hospitals and cancer centers. The rest of their earnings will be donated to buy lunch for a local fire department visiting our school next Wednesday! We’re so proud of our hero’s and the stories they shared! We appreciate your support!

Experiences with light and transparency in the light atelier with our Nido class. Light and shadow play introduces a new way of looking at the environment with curiosity and experimentation.
I might look like play, but when young children work with clay they are pinching, squeezing, patting, pounding, and exercising those hand muscles that are so important for writing and drawing.
Working with clay supports observational learning, collaborative learning, sensory development, fine motor skills, self esteem, self expression, problem solving skills, and aids in attention span.
Many narratives are born out of clay in the class of the 4’s. Stories are born as the clay takes shape. Today’s stories included asteroids, jelly ice cream, and tree spiders!
