Dr. Kehrt’s baby, Kyler and his friend Emmett, came to Animal Medical Clinic to see the adorable stray kittens. A very sweet gray tabby momma was found with 4 kittens. Two kittens are spoken for and we have two gray females that need their furever home. All the kittens are currently 4 weeks old and still nursing. After they have weaned around 6-8 weeks we would love to see them find a wonderful home.

April showers brings May flowers and… Fungi 🍄 🍄‍🟫

Make sure to pluck the mushrooms out of your yards. If your pet decides to try them as a treat. Off to the hospital they go. 🚑

Mushrooms in general cause stomach irritation leading to vomiting and diarrhea. But, some species of mushrooms can cause possible elevated liver enzymes which leads to a very sick pet. 🤢

Enjoy the beauty in all nature provides but, remove your fungi!

Good evening everyone. The weather and road update this evening has called for slicker road conditions that are more dangerous in the early AM. To help keep everyone safe we are going to open starting at 12pm tomorrow.

Update: due to the clinic being completely iced over and the dangerous road conditions, we will be closed today. We do have staff taking care of the boarding patients.

Due to weather conditions, we are closing at noon today. We may have a delayed opening tomorrow but rest assured your boarding pets will be taken care of. Be safe!!!

Meredith (in cat backpack 😝) stopped by for her monthly injection of SOLENSIA for osteoarthritis. After 3 months, she is able to climb and jump on objects that she hasn’t been able to do for years! Yay Meredith!

🐢 Case of the week update 🐢

You all guessed our patient correct! Toby is a 15-17 year old male 50lbs tortoise 🐢 that has recently “discovered himself.” For some species of tortoise, it takes an average of 15 years for them to reach sexual maturity. You may see many mood shifts, appetite change, attempting to escape, and mounting behavior. These behaviors are normal for mature tortoise but, can be very destructive.

In Toby’s case, as he enters into his sexual maturity age, a pot belly pig 🐖 was introduced to his farm in a pin near his outside enclosure. It was love at first site and he was on for the races. 😆

Toby has been to Animal Medical Clinic to address sexual behavior injuries on more than one occasion. He is doing well now with treatment and enjoying his enrichment kennel which includes a variety of non-harmful “toys.”
