Drop off for consignor items is THIS WEEKEND: September 6 & 7!

Children are welcome to come along, but please keep them close. The empty racks and shelves are very tempting to climb on and they WILL tip over. (Kids Market is not responsible for any injury occurring from interaction with fixtures.) If you have the option of leaving them with an alternate caretaker, it will be much easier for you to put your items away without feeling scattered.

Remember: No children over the age of 6 months during Presales or on Public Saturday. Infants 6mo & under welcomed if worn in a carrier; no strollers.

🌼Friday, Sept. 6, 9a-6p : By appointment only. No early shopping passes given out today. You can return with at least 15 items on Saturday and will be given the next available pass. This is a great day to go ahead and offload your larger items without a crowd!

🌼Saturday, Sept. 7, 7a-7p: No appointment needed. Early shopping passes will be given out in order of arrival -- only one pass per adult in line with 15+ items! First 200 in line get to shop Wednesday (9/11) @ 6p-11p and 201-400 will get to shop Thursday (9/12) @ 6p-11p, and will be called in to shop in numerical order (we do a rapid count starting at 6p). Passes over 400 will do a staggered shop on Friday, Sept. 13, starting at 9:15a according to the time-chart on the pass.

(As a courtesy, please don't arrive after 6:00p with more than 50 items so you can be done putting items away by 7:00p.)

See y'all sooooonnnn!!! 🎉🎉

Wondering what Drop Off is like?

(See next post with all the dates/times for Receiving Weekend!)

When you arrive, jump in line with your items! When it's your turn, we'll check you in and confirm your info--DON'T skip checking in, otherwise your items will not scan properly!

Be sure and take a picture of the Friends & Family pass to share with your peeps, and on Saturday take a picture of YOUR early shopping pass in case you lose it! (Remember: No early shopping passes given on Friday during Appointment Receiving. Passes will be given on Sat. in order of arrival. First 200 get to shop Wednesday night! Next 200 Thursday night! Everyone else shops Friday morning on a staggered schedule.)

Next, wait for one of us to look over your items to confirm that everything is in-season, in good shape, and properly hung and tagged. This is important even if you're an experienced consignor!

If you have brought items from the Unaccepted List or that are stained/damaged, you will be asked to walk those items back to your vehicle before continuing into store to put things away.

We will have a limited number of rolling racks. Having your clothes hung up and your other items easily visible helps to speed up the process of us looking everything over.

If you have large items that will be difficult to fit into a buggy, you will need to fill out a Large Item Claim Tag. Be sure and have a printed tag from the portal to attach to the Claim Tag.

Finally, we will direct you where to put your items away. Signs will mark sections and sizes. If you can't find a section, ask! We will only have 1.5 days between the end of Receiving and the first presale, so getting everything basically where it needs to be is super important in helping the sale happen! If your item isn't in the right place, it probably won't sell.

It is helpful to have all your like items grouped together (all Girls 5T, all Boys 10/12, etc). Coats and dressy/formal attire will be hung separately from regular clothes.

Like & Share our posts so everyone in the area can get great deals and your items will sell sell sell!

Any more tips from you pro consignors??

Who just finally registered to consign at her own sale??
Me. It's me. 🙋🏼‍♀️🫣

Deadline is TONIGHT at 11:59pm! ⌛

09/05/2024

This is EXTRA IMPORTANT this sale with our smaller space!! Make sure every item is worth the space it takes up!!

We have now instituted a "three strikes policy." If you have more than three obviously stained, dirty, or damaged items that get pulled this sale, you will be notified and put on "probation." If during a future sale this happens again, you will no longer be able to consign with us.

~~~~~~~~~~~
We want to address a MAJOR issue during the Spring 2022 Sale.
Stains and damaged items.
There are always stains that slip through Receiving. Always a few items that have made the former owners (and now us) go "Eww! Why did they think THAT would sell?" But this time, y'all, it was excessive!
Our shoppers need to trust that they can find quality items at Kid's Market without having to dig through racks of stained clothes, shoes that still have mud on them, puzzles/games missing pieces, baby items folded in such a way as to hide damage, etc. Otherwise, those shoppers will stop coming, and your items won't sell.
So to Shoppers: We want you to know that we realize there was a problem. There are only two of us there full time and a few volunteers each day. We try to look at items as they come through during Receiving, then we look through them again during Organization, and again all throughout the sale as we have the hands to do so, but there are over 100,000 items and very few of us, so it's often a matter of choosing between keeping checkout lines short and having volunteers searching the racks for stains.
To Consignors: Y'all are our first "line of defense" when it comes to keeping Kid's Market the best consignment sale in the area (in our humble opinion). Make sure that you have GREAT lighting while you tag your items and that you look over them carefully. If there is a minor issue with the item but you feel someone might still *really* want to buy it, you MUST indicate the issue in the tag description and price it accordingly. Check over items that have been exposed to moisture carefully. Open the strollers and camp chairs to check for mildew, etc.
Thank you all in advance for helping us keep Kid's Market a great experience for everyone!
👟 NO GRUNGY SHOES. Clean them up or don't bring them. Help us keep Kid's Market a great place to shop!
👟 Do not use us to offload your old adult style shoes. Unless a teen would wear them, do not bring them. We do not have the space. Only accepting up to Youth Size 7 this sale in ALL shoe types including cleats, etc.
👟 This is a Fall/Winter Sale with limited capacity. No open-toed shoes. No flip-flops. No white or "springy" or "summery" prints on shoes.
👟 To secure shoes together, it is best to NOT use ZIPLOCK BAGS unless absolutely necessary. (Like if there is no other way to attach them, or if the following suggestions would cause damage.) Use a zip tie, strong yarn/twine, or a large sturdy safety pin if at all possible. Ziplocks make shoes 1) hard to see/examine and 2) slide off their pile into a wrong size pile or onto the floor. (If the shoes are likely to be damaged if left unbagged, you can bag them, but do everything you can to increase visibility.)
👟Attach tags as securely as possible to shoe, with safety pin, zip-tie, masking/packing/duct tape -- however it is most secure and won't damage shoe. Put a piece of masking tape inside each shoe with your consignor number & price in case of separation. If you have had to bag shoes, you may tape your tags to the inside of the bag.
👟LIMIT SIX PAIRS OF SHOES TOTALPER CONSIGNOR.
Any other questions??
TAGGING & HANGING INSTRUCTIONS:
- Please print tags on light-weight CARDSTOCK using a laser-jet printer. This helps our scanners read the bar-codes more quickly (yey faster check-out lines!) and prevents the ink from running in case of moisture (you never know if it'll be raining on drop-off day!). I always get mine printed at Office Depot or Staples. DO NOT make copy after copy of your tag sheet: the barcode gets blurry and our scanners cannot read them! Also please make sure the barcode, consignor number, and price have printed CLEARLY before attaching to your item!
- On tag, include a GENDER* & SIZE in upper right corner and a DESCRIPTION (enough that would help us match your item back to its tag if they are separated) below barcode. Put a "D" in lower corner for items you don't want back if they don't sell and we'll donate them for you to a local charity. Note that the tags pictured will go half-off on discount days; tags that PRINT with "Full Price" under barcode will not go half-off. Writing "ND" or "No Discount" or "Full Price" or in red ink, etc, after tags are printed will NOT keep the item from scanning half-off on discount days as both the price and the discount are built into the barcode.
*G = girl, B = boy, M = maternity, JR = junior, YM = young men
NOTE: For fabrics/materials that would be damaged by safety pins (silk, bamboo, rain-jackets/waterproof fabrics, puffy coats), DO NOT PIN. There is usually another way to attach tag to item and item to hanger that won't damage it. Be creative, and message with questions!
- Pin tags to items as pictured, horizontally twice through in center top of tag, NOT in the "hole punch" area. Keeps them from ripping off. 🙂
- Hangers must be open to the LEFT, like a question mark (?) so that all items are facing the same direction on the racks.
- Pin your item to the hanger as pictured, along the TOP rail.
- FOR AN ITEM THAT WOULD SLIP OFF THE HANGER WERE IT NOT PINNED, YOU MUST PIN IT ON THROUGH A PIECE OF TAPE FOLDED AROUND UPPER RAIL OF HANGER TO KEEP IT IN PLACE. This can happen with clothes of almost any size depending on type and stretch, but it is especially prevalent with bigger kid sizes, juniors/young men, and maternity. If an item slips to the side, it cannot be seen! If it cannot be seen, it cannot be bought!
- Use unlined metal hangers. Vinyl-coated hangers will not slide on the racks. Plastic hangers or hangers with a cardboard bottom will break. Metal hangers can be found at dry cleaners (often for free), online (Amazon), or can be purchased from Kid’s Market (at cost).
- Place a piece of masking tape inside each garment with your consignor number written on it. This will help match up items and tags should they become separated, or allows us to call you if someone finds your item without a tag and we can't find the tag either.
- For outfits: First, please only attach things together that "go" together. Put the shirt on the hanger like usual, then flip it completely over and pin the waistband of the pants around the upper rail of the hanger (through the shirt fabric). DO NOT pin the pants within the shirt so that they can be clearly seen. DO NOT pin the pants just to the shirt fabric.
A quick tag FAQ!
1) Tags from 2022 sales and onward will work! Just don't make multiple copies of copies -- the bar-code gets too blurry to scan! Please print each sheet on its own.
2) Tags from sales PREVIOUS to 2022 will NOT work and items with old tags will be pulled from the sales floor.
3) Print on lightweight CARD-STOCK (not regular paper) to prevent ripping off items.
4) Print on laser-jet printer to prevent ink smudging and being unable to scan (this happens more than you'd think)
5) Ignore the "hole punch" spot and pin horizontally twice through above or around your consignor number so the tag is more secure. Do NOT use a tagging gun.
6) Write size and gender (G = girl, B = boy, M = maternity, JR = junior, YM = young men) in upper right corner of tag
7) PLEASE write "D" in lower left corner on items you want to DONATE!
Selecting "donate" in the consignor portal will NOT NOTIFY US that you want to donate, so your items will be sorted down to your number for pickup rather than being shoppable by our foster families. (Please do not keep items that you intend to donate at Full Price. Some $$$ is better than none!)
8) Write a DESCRIPTION of item below barcode/price that's detailed enough for us to reunite your item with its tag in case of separation.
9) Tags on items you don't want discounted MUST print with "FULL PRICE" under the barcode. Writing in red ink or writing Full Price after the fact will not change what your item scans at on 50% day. If Full Price is not PRINTED on the tag, it will ring up as half off.
10) Similarly, changing the price on the tag with a pen will not affect what it scans as. The price, the discount (or lack thereof), and your consignor number are all built into the barcode and cannot be changed after it is printed.
🏷️Happy Tagging!!🏷️
Here are a few tips on how to increase your sales as a consignor!
💰 Share share share our posts and invite people to like our page! More shoppers = bigger checks for you and more deals for your friends and family!
💰 Price your items right! Don't look at something and ask, "How much $$$ do I *want* for this?" Ask yourself, "How much $$$ would I *pay* for this if I didn't already have it?"
💰 Resist the urge to keep everything "Full Price" during discount days. Something about human nature, but shoppers *won't buy* full price items during the 50% weekend, and sometimes they avoid them even BEFORE the discount weekend, just because. Save the "Full Price" option for items that you would be willing to take the trouble of selling at the price you want on FB Marketplace/eBay if they don't sell.
💰 Don't bring in stained/torn/damaged items! They *won't* sell, but they *will* give shoppers a "bad taste" for the entire sale. (Tip: Look at an item in sunlight for stains. Store lights are often more revealing than home lights.) Don't waste your time and hanger/pin/tag on something that needs to be turned into rags or donated.
💰 Ditto for out-of-season items. Save them for next sale when folks will actually be looking for them! (Plus we WILL NOT have room for them and they WILL be rejected!)
💰 WASH and CLEAN your items before drop-off. I know that can be a hassle, but a well-presented item not only has a better chance of selling, it has a better chance of selling for MORE.
💰 Hang and pin your items correctly! (Check our next few posts on our page for instructions.) This allows your item to be seen at its best and reduces the chance of your tag getting separated from your item.
💰 Write sufficient details in your description that will allow us to match a lost tag with its item in case it falls off. We can't sell your item without a tag.
Happy tagging, everyone! Post questions below, and also your own consignor tips for newbies!
⚠️We have had to cut and limit sections to fit into our smaller space this fall! We know many of you will be disappointed -- and we are too! Many of the sections we've cut are sections that we like to shop for OUR kids also! Please try to be gracious as we all adjust to this smaller space and we plan to be able to accept everything again in the spring when there are no Halloween stores!⚠️ (I've tried to indicate new-to-this-sale restrictions with the yellow alert triangle emoji, but please read all of it.)
👉PLEASE READ! We reserve the right to immediately DONATE items left at Receiving that are on the Non-Accepted List. We do not have the space to keep them on the floor or store them elsewhere, and gross/broken/recalled/non-functioning items just make the whole sale look bad. Thanks for doing your part to keep Kid's Market great!👈
🥁NOTE: To make all your work worth your investment and use our smaller space wisely, for this sale the minimum price for newly created tags is $2.00 - no longer $1.00!🥁
🏷Please MARK your tags with a "D" in the lower corner if you want to DONATE! Checking the box on the website doesn't tell us anything. THANK YOU!!🏷
