Laura Beth Quick, right, Huntsville Center civilian deputy to the commander, presents Brecken Baily, Access Control Point project manager, with an employee of the month certificate for September. Bailey was recognized for her efforts to ensure correction of a contractor’s actions in August which resulted in a damaged main water line at Fort Moore, Georgia, leaving thousands of Fort Moore residents without water. Bailey, along with her project development team, worked into night to coordinate efforts between the contractor, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Savannah District and the city of Columbus’ Waterworks Department to repair the damage. Nice work Brecken and team!
Huntsville Center's new Deputy Commander, Lt. Col. Todd Mainwaring, presented Griffin McLaurin, Gabi Jarrell and Mason Shockley with coins as appreciation for their support in awarding the largest Initial Outfitting and Transition support contract in the history of the Medical Outfitting and Transition branch for Huntsville Center.

Exchanging bright ideas!💡Brazilian Army Engineering Officers visited Redstone Arsenal and Huntsville Center to discuss various energy programs.
Lt. Col. Heron Alves Dos Santos and Capt. Luiz Pereira Da Silva Neto, Brazilian Army Military Works Department, visited Huntsville City’s Cogeneration Plant and Redstone Arsenal’s solar project before arriving at Huntsville Center to share information regarding energy projects.

Angela Copeland-Humlicek, Huntsville Center interior designer, was recently presented a Certificate of Appreciation by 1st Lt. Seth Mello, Hawaii Wildfires Recovery Field Office Battle Captain, on behalf of Col. Eric Swenson, Hawaii Wildfires Recovery Field Office commander, for her contributions to support the recovery efforts following the wildfires.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is actively supporting the Federal Emergency Management Agency, state of Hawaii and the county of Maui. USACE efforts have included providing temporary power, building a temporary elementary school, planning temporary housing and removing debris from impacted areas in Kula and Lahaina.

The announcement closes Aug. 10. Huntsville Center also has Direct Hire Authority to fill a GS-7 (GS-12 Full Performance Level) Interdisciplinary Position. This position may be filled by one of the following occupational series: General Engineer (0801), Civil Engineer (0810), Environmental Engineer (0819), Chemical Engineer (0893), Physical Scientist (1301), or Geologist (1350). Position is with Environmental Munitions Center of Expertise, Omaha, Nebraska. The announcement closes Aug. 4.

Groundbreaking work! 🧱 Huntsville Center continues structural demolition work on the first of 12 Volar Barracks structures located on Fort Liberty.
This effort will make room for new facilities that will improve quality of life for Soldiers on the installation.

A blast from the past 💥 2014 - 2024
Ten years ago, Huntsville Center began work for NASA on a demolition site in California. Phase 1, shown in the first photo, demolished a service area and old offices. Current work in phase 7, shown in the second photo, is work on the Coca Test Stands.
Tommy Hunt, Huntsville Center Civil-Structures Division civil engineer, shown in the third photo at the site, has worked for the Corps for 36 years and has been involved with the project since it’s very beginnings.
Wrapping up safety month with a hole-in-one! ⛳️
For the last week of June's safety month, the safety office set up a putt putt course around the building to bring awareness to different slip, trip and fall hazards.

2023 FEVS designates Huntsville Center with Best Places to Work Awards! 🏆
Maj. Gen. William Graham, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Headquarters deputy chief of engineers and deputy commanding general, and Command Sgt. Maj. Douglas Galick, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers 15th command sergeant major, present the Best Places to Work Award to Col. Sebastien Joly.
Huntsville Center’s Contracting and Engineering directorates were recognized as a Best Place to Work with scores between 70-79%.
The Resource Management, Environmental Munitions Center of Expertise directorates and Small Offices division were recognized as Best Place to Work, World Class with scores between 80-89%.
Col. Sebastien Joly, Huntsville Center commander, presents Allison Holmes with an Employee of the Month certificate for June. Holmes is part of a three-person team that operates the Medical Division Operation and Maintenance Engineering Enhancement program’s help desk where she receives, coordinates, and routes service orders. For over a week, Holmes manned the help desk alone. She processed over 40 service orders, many of which were classified “Urgent” due to expiring funds. Per the OMEE contracting officer lead, "Without her, the OMEE mission would have failed." Way to go Allison!
