Update #3 on our vinyl record store partners: Black Rose Records, the only record store in south Huntsville, is still going strong at 7914 S Memorial Parkway, in the Village Center near Das Stahl Bierhaus. They've been open in that location for a little over a year. Sean always has a good inventory of highly collectible vinyl, always in top condition. He's open seven days a week.

Enter through door 15 off the dock and they are right past the ramp on the left. Andy tells us that their usual location is being renovated with much-needed new flooring throughout. Here at AVIQ, we like to celebrate the history of home entertainment. Here are two beautiful consoles from the 1940s that you'll find in our showroom. In those days, many electronics companies kept furniture manufacturers busy, building cabinets to house their components. It's very possible that the same furniture manufacturer made these cabinets. The Crosley unit featured a large dial AM/Police/Overseas radio receiver, a turntable, record storage, and a large front-mounted speaker. The Admiral has a combination AM radio/record player, an early 11" black & white VHF-TV (channels 2-13), record storage and front-mounted speaker.

Last week, AVIQ's Mike Burleson visited McIntosh Group's House of Sound in the Chelsea district of New York City. House of Sound offers a new approach to bringing audio excellence to life through meticulously curated listening rooms.

"The showroom was filled with the latest McIntosh audio equipment, showcasing their signature sleek design and impeccable sound quality," said Mike. "We were greeted by Ricky, who was knowledgeable and passionate about McIntosh products. As we toured the showroom, we were shown the latest McIntosh amplifiers, speakers, and audio accessories. Ricky highlighted the unique features of each product, emphasizing the attention to detail and craftsmanship that goes into creating McIntosh's premium audio equipment. The million-dollar McIntosh two channel system was a show stopper. We listened to Antonio Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. Several days later simple textures from the movement 'Spring' to the energetic 'Autumn' are still ringing in my head."

If you've been to our showroom lately, you've seen the stunning photos and memorabilia from Stephanie Jennings' years as the Grateful Dead's tour photographer. She's back in her hometown of Huntsville these days, and her personal story is even more remarkable. We're proud to have Stephanie as a friend. Here's more from WHNT's Greg Screws:

‘All forward motion counts’: Photographer known in rock music media prioritizes helping others A professional photographer who got her start eyeing the Grateful Dead, Stephanie grew her love of catching the perfect shot into someone who was in great demand for her work.

Celebrate the DAYS BETWEEN at AVIQ! Have you seen our new Grateful Dead memorabilia now on display from our friend Stephanie Jennings? Stephanie is a Huntsville native and graduate of Lee High School, who worked as the photographer for the Grateful Dead. When co-founder Jerry Garcia passed away in 1995, Deadheads looked for a way to honor his memory, and the result was DAYS BETWEEN, which refers to the days between August 1 (Jerry's birthday) and August 9 (the day of his death). The name DAYS BETWEEN refers to the Dead's 1993 song of the same name, written by Jerry and his bandmate Robert Hunter. The song is full of nostalgia and longing - a fitting soundtrack to honor Garcia’s life.
