Disability Resource Network is partnering with Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services, Phoenix Huntsville, UCP Huntsville, and AIDB Huntsville Regional Center to provide a Disability Voter Education and Registration Drive on Thursday, September 12th at 10:00 am at the ADRS Huntsville Community Room located on 3000 Johnson Road SW Huntsville, AL 35805! 🤝🏢

July is Disability Pride Month! ♿️ This month, we celebrate the incredible diversity and strength of the disability community.

Did you know the disability pride flag has its own powerful meaning? The Disability Pride Month flag is a symbol of the community's cultural beliefs, struggles, and victories. It was designed in 2019 by writer Ann Magill, who has Cerebral Palsy, and features five diagonal stripes of different colors on a black background:

✨ Red: Physical disabilities, such as stroke, arthritis, and spinal cord injuries
✨ Gold: Neurodiversity, such as autism and ADHD, or cognitive and intellectual disabilities, such as brain injuries and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder
✨ White: Invisible and/or undiagnosed disabilities
✨ Blue: Mental, emotional, and psychiatric disabilities, including mental illness and anxiety and depression
✨ Green: Sensory disabilities, including blindness and deafness, or impaired vision
✨ Black background: Mourns victims of violence, abuse, negligence, su***de, rebellion, illness, and eugenics against people with disabilities, and also serves as a color of rebellion and protest
✨ Diagonal stripes: Cutting across barriers that separate the disabled from society

🕚 ARRIVE EARLY 🕚
Doors open at 6PM, bidding begins at 6:30PM. Avoid waiting in long lines while being among the first to enjoy delicious food & drink options by planning to arrive early!

🎟️ HAVE YOUR TICKET READY 🎟️
Either have your ticket already pulled up on your phone or have your printed ticket in hand to ease through the check in process and get to the fun stuff ASAP! We recommend screenshotting or saving your ticket to your phone for easy access.

✅ BRING A VALID PHOTO ID ✅
Guests must be 21 years of age or older with valid photo ID in order or consume alcoholic beverages. The venue requires every guest to show a valid photo ID when ordering alcohol. Be sure yours isn’t expired!

🚕 PLAN A RIDE 🚕
Plan ahead and drink responsibly. Uber, Lyft, and taxi services are great options for those in need of safe transportation.

🚘 KNOW WHERE TO PARK 🚘
If you plan to drive yourself to the event, make sure you know where to park. Guests are encouraged to review the Stovehouse map online ahead of time. Park in or near the WEST MAIN ENTRANCE (across from Big Spring Café). Self-parking is complimentary.

There will be several opportunities to participate in fun, interactive fundraising activities (i.e. silent auction, liquor pull, giving wall).
