National Blood Donor Day, June 14, 2024, is dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of donating blood and appreciating and thanking blood donors for their life-saving contributions. Thursday, April 25, 2024, META hosted a reception for their 2024 Community Action Grant winners: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tarrant County, Camp Fire First Texas, Fort Worth Botanic Garden, The Fort Worth Public Library Foundation, Fort Worth Zoo, I.M. Terrell Academy for STEM and VPA, Maroon 9 Community Enrichment Organization, Pro Players Foundation, and Resources Inspiring Success and Empowering (R.I.S.E.). Since 2018, these local grants have been available to projects in Tarrant County that help make the community stronger by putting the power of technology to use for community benefit, connecting people online or off, and improving STEM education.

April 21 -27, 2024, is National Crime Victims’ Rights Week. Tarrant County began the week with a ceremony honoring those agencies that work closely with crime victims throughout our county. We were privileged to present a certificate of appreciation to Gateway Church NRH for their outreach and support of crime victims in Precinct 3. In addition, please visit the resource table Northeast Courthouse lobby this week for information from local crime victim support agencies.

Today, we had the privilege of attending the groundbreaking for the Community Enrichment Center’s Food Pantry Expansion, partially funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), which Tarrant County awarded. The CEC Food Pantry currently serves an average of 134 families with food insecurities each day, and this number is increasing every month. The expansion will increase the food pantry by 50%, allowing the CEC to serve more families in our community.

On Tuesday, April 16, 2024, the Tarrant County Commissioners Court presented a Congratulatory Resolution to JPS Health Network for being a 2024 Gallup Exceptional Workplace Award Winner! In addition, Commissioners presented a Proclamation to Texas A&M AgriLife Extension for 2024 National Volunteer Week, showing that the amount of volunteer hours in 2023 equaled more than $1.8 million in paid time. On Thursday, April 11, 2024, we had the pleasure of attending Meals on Wheels’ luncheon in honor of the USS Fort Worth and USS Texas crews and their service to our country. Cmdr. Jeremiah Petersen, commanding officer of the Freedom-variant littoral combat ship USS Fort Worth and Cmdr. Kenneth Cooke, commanding officer for the Virginia-class fast attack submarine USS Texas were in attendance with their top performing crew members. It was an honor to hear about their missions and to visit with the crews.

February 28, 2024 – We were very excited to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Sid W. Richardson Agricultural Hub (“AgHub”) at the Tarrant Area Food Bank. The Ag Hub is Public-private partnership designed to lead and solve a state-wide produce supply issue for food banks. Supported by TDA, Tarrant County, Fort Worth, Feeding America & Feeding Texas.

The Tarrant Area Food Bank, through the AgHub, receives donated fresh produce via agreements with local farmers in the Tarrant Area and growers in the Rio Grande Valley and Arizona. This program brings fresh produce from farm to food bank to fork.

We're going to have a great time with live entertainment, workshops, screenings, 50s costume contest, over 135 exhibitors, and Special Guest Wally Funk!
