Since joining Evans Delivery Dallas in 2013, Yaneth Urbina has been that joyful soul who hauls containers throughout Dallas with a smile.

What inspired you to become a truck driver?
My husband, Carlos, is also a driver. One day, I joined Carlos on a trip when suddenly his truck broke down. While they were fixing it, I sat in the driver's seat and took the wheel as if I were driving. I felt like the Queen of the road.

So, I went to school and got my license. From that day on, every morning, I woke up with enthusiasm.

What do you listen to on the road?
I love listening to the Bible, Christian sermons, and Christian music.

How do you handle stress and maintain a positive attitude?
I strive to control my emotions and never allow them to control me. I am a courteous, polite, respectful professional driver.

What makes you laugh the most?
I see the humor in the twists and turns of life, but I don't let it mock me.

What do you enjoy doing during your downtime?
I love spending time with my family, whether shopping, enjoying moments with my friends, or being with the people from my church.

What advice would you give to the younger version of yourself?
Avoid any conflicts on the road. Be respectful and strive to be a professional driver, setting an example for others.

What advice would you give to automobile drivers around a truck?
Always keep a safe distance from trucks and avoid their blind spots.

What advice would you give someone considering a truck driver career?
Go for it! It is a great career that provides so many opportunities. I have not regretted it once throughout my 23 years as a truck driver.

Why did you become a driver?
I used to drive a tow truck but was allowed to make more money driving a semi-truck.

How do you spend your spare time?
The little time I have available is spent with my family. I have 11 kids and 5 grandchildren.

What makes you laugh?
I love to see other people laugh; it makes me happy to see my friends & family laughing.

Who is your hero?
My stepfather is my hero. He came into my life when I was five and adopted me. He always put me first and treated me just like his kids; I never felt like a “step”. He also taught me the power of hard work, which I learned just by watching him.

What advice would you give to the younger version of yourself?
Spend more time with family. Work is important, but family is first. I worked too much when I was younger and didn’t give my family the attention they deserved.

What did you want to be when you were young?
I always dreamed of being a soldier or a policeman. Although I never became either, my son, Felipe Garcia Jr. joined the Air Force and is now a commercial pilot.

What is your favorite band?
My two favorite bands are Creedence Clearwater Revival and The Beatles. Over the years, I tried to teach myself to play the guitar and the drums, unfortunately, I’m better at listening than playing.

What advice would you give to automobile drivers around a truck?
Please stop passing trucks on the right side; if we are in the left lane, we will get over as soon as it is safe. Please be patient with us.
