Here is a short list of things I want my clients to know. In no particular order.

1. I DO NOT care if you shaved your legs. (Chances are, mine are worse than yours 🤫)
2. The room is not bright enough for me to see your toenails. I can't tell if you've had a pedicure recently.
3. If you are on a muscle relaxer or any other "feel goods" please tell me. I don't care what you do- but it effects how I need to go about the session.
4. Tipping isn't required or expected by any means, but it makes me feel appreciated--which in turn makes me more likely to stay late or squeeze you in.
5. If you don't want to talk during the massage that's okay! A lot of my clients like to use this time as a venting therapy session. This is YOUR time. You decide.
6. "Happy Ending" jokes arent funny. Its disrespectful to me, my profession, those in my career field and the time and money I spent on my education.
7. Calling a massage therapist a 'masseuse' is the same as calling a bartender a serving w***h. It's outdated and derogatory.
8. Get as undressed as YOU feel comfortable. There is no right or wrong way. It's about preference.
9. Its okay to ask me questions and be vocal about your session. Tell me what needs more attention, areas to avoid, what needs deeper pressure...
10. It's TOTALLY normal for your body to have involuntary body functions when you are relaxed. It's only weird you make it weird.
11. When I say make sure you drink water- Im not joking. Your body will thank you the next day.
12. I don't mind when you cancel your appointment. I am SO understanding when it comes to life happening. Please just let me know so I'm not waiting.
13. I'm not thinking about, looking or critiquing your imperfections during our session. Im staring at a random speck on the wall while mentally visualizing the muscles thinking about the iced coffee I didnt get to finish.
14. I'm very open and non judgemental. If you have questions or concerns- don't hesitate to ask me. If I don't know, I will find out.
15. I have to stay inside my scope of practice. I'm not a dermatologist- I can't TELL you that your mole looks like skin cancer. I can only encourage you to get it looked at.

Good News! I am now ready to take on clients full time again. My deepest apologies for any inconvenience caused by my schedule this month. My personal and professional life has been chaotic, causing me to neglect putting others' needs before mine. I have forgotten appointments, failed to respond to messages, and left clients wondering where I was during their scheduled time. I take full responsibility for my shortcomings. I have had many missed calls, texts, voicemails, and messages I haven't responded to. Please try again, and I will make it right. Happy Valentine's Day to each one of you! My plan was to run a BIG Valentine's Day special. I wanted to use the tub soak in this promotion. Sadly, I hurt my elbow at the end of January and have been taking it easy. I started feeling better and then immediately hurt my neck. 🥴

I've recently been asked a few times, "Where did you come up with the name Angel Oak Massage?"

The answer is way more deep and sappy than you would think.

In business class, we were asked to envision our employment 5-10 years from now. What was the atmosphere? Where are you located? What types of clients will you have? How will you decorate?...etc

I didn't want to end up in a salon battling the sounds and smells of chemicals and blow dryers. Chiropractic offices seemed so white walled and cold.
I knew I wanted a peaceful, serene and tranquil place that made everyone feel comfortable and calm. The name had to fit the vibe. I used a thesaurus looking up every synonym for relaxing, zen, peace... Nothing stood out.
Completely unrelated and many years ago, my mom and I were talking about things that brought us peace, places that made us feel happy, feelings of joy and memories of times we felt alive.

The excitement in her voice, the look in her eyes and the feelings I felt when she responded will forever be a video in my head on repeat.
It dawned on me one day. I want that feeling for my career, for my business and for my clients. I want my mom to always be a part of my life path and accomplishments. She hounded me for weeks wondering what I was going to name my business. I kept telling her I didn't know. The day I signed my papers, dotted my Is and crossed my Ts was the day she found out.

"Oh, Joley! You would love seeing the Red Wood trees in person! They are so big and so beautiful. I felt like I was a tiny little nothing in a massive world. It took my breath away. I felt so calm and everything just made sense. It's like a feeling you would never believe and one I can't describe. I know the Angel Oak feels that way too. It's the most beautiful tree I have ever seen."

So, here I am. Living the life I have manifested, meeting people who have become close friends, healing people, being excited about my career choice and loving life in Suite 5 under the name Angel Oak Massage. 🌎💚🌳

Homemade candles/soaps may seem expensive but I saw a boring vanilla candle at a Box Store the other day for $25. 😳
Buying a graphic T-Shirt from a Chain Store easily runs $20 or more. Ask your friend to make you one and you get to pick out the colors you want.
After buying all the ingredients for cookies/cakes and desserts, it adds up ro almost the same as the local bakery shop. (And you don't have to clean up the mess)

I get asked frequently about cupping. Most clients want to try it but don't quite understand the why, how and what's of it.
Cupping therapy can be used for many purposes, including:
•Pain
•Inflammation
•Blood flow
•Relaxation and well-being
•Deep-tissue massage
•Back pain
•Neck pain
•Headaches

The suction created by the cup encourages blood flow due to stagnation, lifts muscle fibers and allows the immediate elimination of trapped toxins in the tissues.

Each individual cup is placed on the skin for 5-10 minutes. Cupping shouldn't cause pain, though you may experience some skin tightness during the procedure. After cupping therapy, you may feel bruised and slightly sore, but you shouldn't have severe discomfort.

Why should we pay cash everywhere with banknotes instead of a card ?

I have a £50 banknote in my pocket. Going to a restaurant and paying for dinner with it.
The restaurant owner then uses the note to pay for the laundry.
The laundry owner then uses the note to pay the barber.
The barber will then use the note to pay for shopping.
After an unlimited number of payments, it will still remain a £50 value, which has fulfilled its purpose to everyone who used it for payment and the bank has jumped dry from every cash payment transaction made.

BUT
IF I go to a restaurant and pay digitally via Card,
the bank fees for my payment transaction charged to the seller are 3%, so around £1.50
( and so will be the fee of £1.50 for each further payment transaction )

for the owner re laundry or
payments of the owner of the laundry shop,
or payments of the barber etc.....

Therefore, after 30 transactions, the initial £50 will exist at only £5, and the remaining £45 has become the property of the bank … thanks to all of the digital transactions and fees!
