SeCa Hose Holder
Garden smarter with the hands-free SeCa Hose Holder! Designed and made in Texas from American Steel, it's the perfect garden tool for your home & garden!
Ted’s Tomato Tunnel inspection was a success!
After all the rain we’ve had this week, it’s safe to say the garden was loving… and Ted was too!
All around most of the plants are doing excellent. We do have some poorer soil towards one side stunting tomatoes and pepper growth, yet the melons and cucumbers are LOVING it. Who knows!
Give the garden the rest of this month and we’re about to be eating GOOD!
How’s everyone else’s garden going?!
HAPPY GARDENING!
Nothing like a fresh harvest of radishes first thing in the morning!
You can’t go wrong with your traditional radishes but adding in some “White Icicles” really can kick the heat up on a salad!
Always having early season harvests is the best tease for a great growing season ahead!
Which of your early season crops are producing like ours?
HAPPY GARDENING!
Don’t be like this guy!
Use the SeCa Hose Holder instead and keep your hose off the ground so it’s ready to go at a moments notice!
Whether you keep yours mounted on a reel or coiled up on the ground like this one, it’s a must have addition to stepping your garden game up!
HAPPY HOSE HOLDING!
Water more effectively like us!
Any time we need to water a big area or a specific patch, we always increase our coverage by lifting our rotary sprinkler on the SeCa Hose Holder!
This time of year, we’re deep watering specific patches in the garden that could use some more water between rains.
It’s an awesome little hack that we’ve been using for years and it’s helped produced the abundant gardens we’re known for!
It’s one of those things you have to try for yourself!
HAPPY HOSE HOLDING!
GARDEN UPDATE!
Now that’s the kind of progress we like to see 5 weeks after planting! It’s going to be a great year at the Richmond HQ!
The tomatoes are setting fruits already and growing like crazy (The frequents rains have helped a ton)!
There are a couple trouble spots the further away you go from the first picture. The soil doesn’t drain well here and needs to be amended again next year. We’ll get it eventually, but for now the cantaloupe get a chance to work it in this super clayey spot!
Both pepper and cucumber patches are all doing excellent with a handful of weaker plants starting to hit their stride.
Excited to see how the Squash and Zucchini turn out after bugs ravaged them last year. Here’s to hoping this spot works better!
Last but not least - Our Tomatoes on the side of the house! These guys are doing pretty decent despite their small space between the rock and clay bed! They’ve made it as volunteers on the ground the past seasons and are curious to see how they fair in a dedicated row!
HAPPY GARDENING!
Plant any new trees lately?
If so, then you know you need to deep water those suckers pretty frequently!
If you have in the past and conventionally deep watered with laying the hose on the ground for a long period of time… we know you probably forgot a time or two!
Well… we’ve mitigated the forgetfulness and made that whole process a lot easier with the SeCa Hose Holder!
Prop your hose up, get a soft trickle going so it doesn’t erode the base, and viola! You have an easier way of knocking the task out!
It’s one of those things you have to try!
HAPPY HOSE HOLDING!
It’s our favorite time of the year when all the bulbs begin blooming!
It’s also been two years since we solved the mystery of this beautiful Iris, the Dixie Iris (Iris Hexagona)!
We always look forward to seeing it every year! Such a rich and vibrant blue/violet color that can’t be beat!
If we have any other Iris fans out there, is there a certain variety you look forward to as well?!
HAPPY GARDENING!
Ever wonder where the name “SeCa” comes from?
Well you’re looking at the “Ca” right now!
When Dad was trying to come up with a name for his “Hose Holder”, he wanted something catchy!
After our Mom suggested rearranging some letters of all our names, Dad came to a quick conclusion to use “Se” for Seth and “Ca” for Cade, his two sons!
Wanting always pass his legacy through us, now he had another way through his best invention yet with our names! Very fitting!
HAPPY HOSE HOLDING!
Dad just retired, so he built his dream garden!
It’s the biggest one he’s ever built and he’s so excited to have the all time in the world to make it perfect!
He’s got so much stuff growing over there that we have to point out the patches with labels! 😂 Here’s what he’s got!
A: Potatoes🥔
B: Squash/Zucchini
C: Peppers🌶️
D: Swiss Chard🥬
E: Green Beans🫛
F: Radishes
G: Tomatoes/Tomatillos🍅
H: Onions🧅
I: Carrots🥕
J: Israeli Cantaloupe Patch 🍈
Do you know what the best part is? He’s giving away half of it to our family and friends!
He always says it’s so fun seeing the joy on everyone’s faces when you bring them a fresh treat from your slice of local paradise!
Looks like he’s going to make a lot of people happy this year!
HAPPY GARDENING!
Contrary to what it looks like, we are not washing these solo cups for the next raging party!😂
We use these bad boys for potting up seedlings! So when it comes to planting time, we always use them over again for the next year!
However, they’re always FILTHY and need a thorough scrubbing that you can’t do with one hand!
Fortunately, we can rig up a wash station with our SeCa Hose Holder to make this usually arduous task so much easier!
I’m currently nursing a minor lower back injury and this has been the first time I’ve personally got to enjoy using this method!
My back thanked me the next day and I thanked my SeCa Hose Holder again for another job well done!😁
HAPPY HOSE HOLDING!
So many useful ways to help, all in a day’s work!
I’m currently nursing a minor lower back injury, so this SeCa Hose Holder is definitely helping from getting any worse!
Between all the times I needed to clean up today to setting up or using the wash station for our “Potting Up Cups”, I’m so glad I had an easier time with all of these potentially back breaking tasks!
We always say you can use this tool however you best imagine! Well here’s what we best imagined today and we hope you will too in your own unique way!
HAPPY HOSE HOLDING!
Super grateful for all the rain we’ve had over the last week and think the plants enjoyed it as well! Currently have 30 Tomatoes (15 varieties), 34 Peppers (18 varieties), a bed of Carrots, 3 varieties of Cucumbers under the Trellis, a bed of Israeli Cantaloupe (the best variety we’ve ever had!), 2 Squash, and 2 Zucchinis. We’re going to be busy in the next few months!🍅🫑🥒🥕🌶️🍈
Experimenting with Tomatoes in the rock bed along the house since volunteers have grown well in the past!
Loving the new Trellis (Going to have a nice how-to post coming soon)! Used 2 - 8’ cattle panels. Binded at the top with wire and on the side to 2 T-Posts. Need to get 2 more for the other side (Really easy way to make, especially with bringing home even with a truck since traditionally arch versions use a 16’ panel). Excited to see how this turns out!
The farming, ranching, and homesteading communities will always be near and dear to our hearts since that’s where our origins lie!
Anytime we’re able to see our SeCa Hose Holder help out in those places, it always warms our hearts!
Especially in those colder times of the year when you’re not even remotely thinking about our tool!
had the awesome idea to rig up our tool for their cattle troughs! It helps keep them heated enough for their livestock to get a drink during those cold months!
Super ingenious! We’re so glad it’s helped made the process so much more easier and reliable!
HAPPY HOSE HOLDING!
ALL RIGHT EVERYONE, ITS TIME!!!
Get your SeCa Hose Holders out and ready to use for an awesome year ahead!
However you can best imagine needing a helping hand with your water hose, the SeCa Hose Holder has you covered!
Long time user Bunda over here unpacked hers this past weekend and wanted to remind y’all how it’s done! 😉
HAPPY HOSE HOLDING!
How it started… VS… How it’s going!
Potting up seedlings always takes up SO much time. If you’re like us, you totally know what we mean!
This year Dad took over the chore while we were off on vacation, so we’re glad he had some help from our favorite little garden helper!
Potting up is crucial in helping the seedling getting some additional room to grow and establish itself before it’s final transplant to the garden!
With this year being a warmer one already, we’re looking to do this pretty soon!
Where are y’all currently at with your own seedlings and potting up processes?
HAPPY GARDENING!
Thinking ahead for the year to come; Watering can end up taking a TON of our time!
Especially when doing so in un-sprinklered areas, we used to stand there wayyy longer than we’d like!
With every best effort not to hit any leaves, using a fan sprayer on the SeCa Hose Holder has saved us countless hours in summers past!
It’s one of those hacks we can’t stress enough of how helpful it can be!
You can bet we’ll be doing that again this year!
HAPPY HOSE HOLDING!
The experiment has now came to an end!
With the first hard freeze hitting us tonight, we went ahead and picked every last tomato on the vine!
As luck would have it, we had SO many! Hundreds, maybe thousands if you count all the cherries!
Regardless, it’s safe to say the experiment went amazing by letting everything grow until the first freeze!
The only changes we’d do is a little pruning and shaping on the old growth so everything looks a little more tidy. We’ll see later this year!
HAPPY GARDENING!
After an afternoon stroll on the beach, Dad found himself quite the assortment of seashells!🐚
Knowing that he needed to give them a good rinse from all the sand and saltwater, he had the perfect tool to help out once he got home!😉
Peep below at the bottom of the picture to see all that he found!
HAPPY HOSE HOLDING!
1st Harvest of the Year… Wait, what?!
Since we haven’t had a freeze down here in Houston yet, we decided to do a little experiment and let our tomatoes grow as long as they could!
It’s so crazy right now as we have HUNDREDS of tomatoes on the vine. Since we had a massive blooming event in November and the density of the flowers/plants was so much, the ability to pollinate was likely much easier to accomplish!
While the “fall/winter” round is noticeable smaller in size, our yield seems to be double or triple that of the spring/summer harvest. Again, CRAZY!
That being said - Are any of y’all in warmer climates experimenting past the typical growing season like us?
HAPPY GARDENING!
It was about time we washed out our trash cans and of course we had the best hack to help out!
We used the SeCa Hose Holder to keep a steady stream while getting in a solid scrub!
We never know when we’ll find these little hacks like but we’re always super glad to use them!
HAPPY HOSE HOLDING!
The most resilient crop of the SeCa Farm of 2023, Swiss Chard!
Our patch of Swiss Chard came back strong after the heat spell towards the end of the summer and chopping off the heavier, denser growth.
Now we’re enjoying the fall yield of this family staple!
Recipe-wise, we’re not fancy. Just a simple boil and reduction of this leafy green. Season to taste with salt, pepper, and butter. We’ll put in some onion occasionally as a flavor enhancer, but we like it as it is!
Any of y’all big fans of Swiss Chard as well?
HAPPY GARDENING!
Happy 5th Anniversary to the SeCa Hose Holder!
We still can’t believe it’s been 5 years since we started! It seriously feels just like yesterday that it was Day 1.
Guess time flies by when you’re having fun and doing something that you’re passionate about. Especially when you’re getting to have that experience with your family!
As we head on into Year 6, Mark is retiring from his Day Job in a week! He’s really excited to start putting in some hours back over here to help expand in more stores and work on the NEW Hose Guide!
Thanks so much for making this another wonderful year and following along on this ride with our favorite garden tool! We appreciate you!
HAPPY HOSE HOLDING!
Our favorite little garden buddy, Ted, says his pepper patch is thriving and hopes yours still is too!
We’ve kept our peppers alive during the crazy summer heat and we’re sure glad we did!
It’s always fun to have a nice little fall harvest and extend the growing season! The shish*tos, bananas, sugar rush peaches are making like crazy!
Ted definitely agrees too!😉
Are any of y’all doing the same?!
HAPPY GARDENING!
It’s about that time to harvest some Meyer Lemons! Until that time, those weighed down branches can get rather annoying!
Being the creatives that we are, we happened to repurpose this SeCa Hose Holder to give this branch a weightlifting boost!
We weren’t able to tie some string to a counter branch, so this method worked out excellent!
You just never know when you might find some absolutely bizarre use with your SeCa Hose Holder, but we’ll take it!😁
HAPPY… Lemon Tree Branch?… HOLDING!
Another night, another helpful spot water!
While we’ve been off on a nice little break, we’ve definitely still been performing this habit off camera just about every night the last few weeks!
It’s been wayyy too hot even in the early evenings still, so once 8:30 rolls around, we’ve been right here getting an assisted deep, spot water!
So grab your favorite fanning or lightest nozzle in your attachment arsenal and let it rip on the SeCa Hose Holder like us!
HAPPY HOSE HOLDING!
Anyone else over this 105 degree heat?!
Well we’re so done with it that we’re doing our yard work in the evenings and at night!
We even repurposed our fishing/camping headlight to help us see better and it has been quite effective!
It’s definitely DIFFERENT, but it’s worth the try!😁 Shoot we were out there last night until 10pm!
HAPPY GARDENING!
Peter Piper ain’t the only the one enjoying some pickled peppers!
Well of course we’re pickling all of our cucumbers too!
We use a 3/4 cup each of vinegar and water with 1 tablespoon of salt and just under 3 tablespoons of sugar for our brine mix. Throw in some cloves of garlic, oregano, and mustard seed and we have quite the brine!
Pickling peppers, cucumbers, garlic, and carrots has definitely become another yearly favorite thing to do with gardening!
We’re sure there’s a bunch of you who are fanatics as well! Are there any special brine mixes you prefer or any secret veggies worth pickling that we need to try next year?!
HAPPY GARDENING!
Sunday mornings are for nice, deep, spot waters! Rather than stand there ourselves, the SeCa Hose Holder gets to do that for us!
Our puppy tried running off to the front yard, so having this done for us was MUCH needed while we chased that crazy little guy!
Now these peppers got their heavy drink and are ready to take on these 100 degree temperatures!
HAPPY HOSE HOLDING!
We sure love these helpful hacks with our SeCa Hose Holder!
While they’re simple in nature, they always pay off time after time! Especially with these Top 4 uses yielding us serious dividends!🚿
1️⃣ Getting a complete wash off of your hands and legs before going inside after working in the garden, yard, mowing,… insert any activity that gets you filthy!
2️⃣ Rinsing off the garden harvests before brining them inside to enjoy!
3️⃣ Giving ourselves a splash in the face to cool off! We’re used to working til our work is done, so this ends up being quite a refreshing way to wrap up a solid afternoon’s worth of work!
4️⃣ Some areas can be tough to target, so Spot Watering how we’re watering these peppers can be really efficient rather than standing there! We’ve been using this A LOT lately since it’s been so hot and dry!
If you’re like us and enjoy saving some time and doing things a little easier, you need this helping hand as well!
HAPPY HOSE HOLDING!
Even if you have a hose reel like we do on the side of the house, we still need our SeCa Hose Holder!
It’s nice to have your hose perfectly wrapped up, but we still find the need to always have a wash station ready to go or in a better position other than loosely hanging from the reel!
Hose reels are a huge convenience and we’ll always highly endorse them… just make sure they’re being used with our SeCa Hose Holders too!😉
