We adore our clients and our community and want to do something special to give back. From now until August 17, June Karter is hosting a SUMMER GIVEBACK fundraiser raffle.

All proceeds will be donated to Friends of the Independence Public Library and Center for
Hope & Safety in Salem. Both causes are near and dear to our hearts, as we value education and supporting women and survivors.

Raffle tickets can be purchased at June Karter: $5 each or five for $20 and can be earned through booking a service with a June Karter commission artist (JK will donate $5 per service) and one ticket for every $75 spent on products at the salon.

If you’re spending a lot more time in the sun, you might notice your hair becoming more dry, brittle, and damaged. But why is that?

Your hair shaft is filled with keratin (aka protein).
Prolonged exposure to the sun weakens the protein structure, sucks out moisture, and reduces elasticity so your hair breaks more easily. That + wind, humidity, chlorine, or saltwater = brittle and damaged hair!

🖤BRUSHING
Brushing your extensions multiple times a day will prevent tangling not only at the ends, but at the attachment points as well. Make sure to brush starting at the ends and work your way to the top — This helps ensure a smooth move up at your next appointment!

😴SLEEPING
When the hair is wet it is a lot more fragile than when it is dry. Rubbing and tangling on your pillow wet is very damaging! It is best to sleep with dry hair in a loose braid, in a sleep beanie, or on a satin pillow case!

🤍BLOW-DRYING
Blow drying your hair & extensions has so many benefits! Not only does it help prevent looping & premature deterioration, it also is the only way to protect against getting bacteria getting trapped in the top of your extension weft & inevitably in your natural hair! Blow drying also helps get more life out of your hair & go longer in between washes!

🫧WASHING
Water expands the cuticle of the hair & because the extensions are no longer growing new strands, the least amount of wear and tear on them is best!

🧴MOISTURIZING
Extensions don’t have the same access to oils that hair attached to your scalp has! Hair extensions have no natural source of moisture, so it is important to apply a leave in conditioner & oil to them to prevent the hair from becoming dry and brittle!

🗓️MAINTENENCE
Your extensions grow out with your natural hair! Letting them get passed a certain point can disrupt the weight distribution of your install and cause tangling or tension on your natural hair. follow your stylist’s recommendation for how often to have your extensions moved up!
