What a special day it is for me this year......

It's been a bit quiet on this account for the past couple of months, and I'd like to officially announce that we welcomed a sweet baby girl into our lives on April 19th.

I want to take a moment to thank you all for the support & understanding as I've taken time away from Beads By Dre, and who have cheered me on throughout this pregnancy. It has meant the world! I am enjoying my time getting to know our baby girl & look forward to returning to Beads By Dre and creating for you, this fall.

Hi Team-

It's been a bit quiet on here for a while now, and I'm finally ready to share why.
**Full transparency - this may trigger those of you who are experiencing infertility (as posts similar to these often triggered me).

My husband and I have been TTC for about 3 years. Back in 2019 I was referred to a fertility specialist, & we found out that I had a low ovarian reserve, paired with my age (I'm only 35), meant we needed to undergo fertility treatments. We tried IUI without success and continued to try naturally. This process weighed heavily on my mental health. As long as I can remember, I've wanted to be a mama. I've made countless mama bracelets, wondering if I'd ever get the chance to make one for myself. Every birth announcement post crushed me, left me angry, and feeling hopeless.

This summer, we decided to destress my body & emotional health, & go with the flow of life, not focusing on trying to create one....in July, we found out that I am pregnant. We are so excited, & yet the past 3 months have been scary & extremely difficult. I've been extremely sick, sometimes wishing for this life that I've wanted to create so badly, to be over. I worry about whether I'll be fortunate enough to make it to term, to deliver a healthy baby.

I know my story isn't unusual, as many women experience infertility. I'm sharing this with you in the hopes that others who are experiencing infertility or tough pregnancies will feel vulnerable enough to talk about it-I see you, I hear you, & I am always here to listen or be a shoulder to cry on.

What does all of this mean for Beads By Dre? It's not over, but I'm definitely simplifying things for a little bit. The website has been closed (for now), & I am taking a break from in person events. I will have story sales, as well as continue to work with my wholesale accounts. In the meantime, you can always reach out to me via DM or email. Thank you for always supporting me and continuing to do so....looking forward to Beads By Dre growing by 1 in April 2023.

"Ok here we go...it's been heavy and I know you're all feeling it. As Beads By Dre] and I have been wrapping up and creating end if the school year gifts for teachers and staff, while processing the recent school shooting at Robb Elementary school, Dre and I wanted to figure out a way we could outwardly get the attention of our legislature, and try to make a small impact. We want to see if we can lay as many daisies on the steps of our Indiana State Capitol building to represent the 7,957 children and teens who are annually impacted by gun violence. This number makes up a wide range of different acts of gun violence; murder, su***de, legal intervention, shot unintentionally, injuries, those shot and survived. Close to 2,000 of these events end in death. Why daisies? If you know me or follow me, you know I love finding and creating meaning behind flowers. I don't do it often enough, but this feels like a good time...daisies symbolize many different characteristics and two of them are purity and innocence. We would like to lay these daisies as a representation of our young children and adolescents who are impacted by gun violence. Here's where we need YOU! Dre and I sold $600 worth of teacher gift sets and would like to put that money towards the continued efforts of making changes in our gun safety laws. We would like to raise enough money to potentially purchase 2,000 daisies AND donate some funds to . This would equate to potentially raising about $500 more. We will hang tight while we see if we get any responses from you all, then update you with more details! We have to continue to make noise.........one of my favorite human beings, Jane Goodall, says every single day, what we do makes a difference, even the smallest of things, you can make a difference, it's just you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make."

Alright team, taking a moment to share a little love with ya...

Today, I treated myself to Mother's Day flowers from (and I added in few extra from another arrangement she made for me) because I'm a dog mom, and also because I'm a woman who struggles with infertility.

If I'm being honest, I thought this time of year I would be an expecting mama, but the universe has other plans for that. With the help of therapy, I've been able to process what Mother's Day means to me this and I'd like to share that with you.

When I think about this holiday, the words that come to mind are: hope, celebration, remembrance, struggle - for the amazing mothers that I know, for the women in my life who love and care for me & my home & my dogs, the mom's in my life who are no longer living (my grandma Kay, to name one), the friends I've met through my infertility journey who are still struggling or awaiting to become mothers, the teachers in my life who love & care for their students, the friends who I have the gift of watching them love their nieces/nephews/kiddos that they hold dear to their hearts, women who have disconnected from their mothers, the plant mommas who have shared their knowledge of plant care in the hopes that I don't ruin mine, the pet mama's who share in the joy of sending me pet photos, the women who choose THEIR life over that of their unborn child for whatever circumstance they deem right FOR THEMSELVES.....

All of us are here because a woman decided to love us in the best way she knew how, and that looks different for everyone, because who we consider a mother is so unique....and because a Mother's LOVE is so unique.

So I'd like to wish a Happy Mother's Day to all the mama's out there - no matter what that means for you....I celebrate you, I cherish you, and I hold you all so near and dear to my heart💗
