Life's Journey Home Hospice & Inpatient Facility
Inpatient Facility, Home Hospice, or Palliative Care in Indianapolis, Indiana and surrounding areas Established in 2018.
Over 15 years ago, as a hospice nurse, I discovered a critical need within the hospice care landscape. It became evident that there was a gap in care options for hospice patients when their symptoms became unmanageable at home or when their caregivers required a reprieve. Although hospitals and long-term care facilities excel in their care provision, they lack the specialized training and philosop
We want to extend our deepest gratitude to all the families of our hospice patients for the thoughtful gifts you have shared with us. Your generosity and kindness during such a challenging time mean more than words can express. These gestures not only uplift our spirits but also remind us of the profound connections we build with each family. Please know that we cherish these moments and are truly honored to care for your loved ones. Thank you for your support, compassion, and the trust you place in us.
We received a gift basket and bird seed for our many bird feeders at our Inpatient facility! Such thoughtful and kind gifts to express gratitude for our care, thank you from the Life’s Journey Hospice family.
Those who have the strength and the love to sit with a dying patient in the silence that goes beyond words will know that this moment is neither frightening nor painful, but a peaceful cessation of the functioning of the body. ~Elisabeth Kubler-Ross~
When someone has gone,
you can bring them back
for just a little while
by talking them into life
by painting a picture
with your memories and your words
breathing their essence
back into existence
for just a few moments.
When someone has gone
you can see them again
for a minute or two
by being all the things they once were
by allowing their best traits
to filter through you
shaping your words,
your thoughts and your deeds
back out into this world.
When someone has gone
you can feel them again
for just a moment
by playing their music
and singing their favourite songs
by giving yourself up to the notes
that brought them alive
once upon a time
it will again.
When someone has gone
you can keep a part of them alive
by giving the love you had for them
a forever place in your life
a forever seat at your table
and a glorious chapter in your book.
Stories never die
tell them.

Celebrating a beautiful day with our friends and partners at Brownsburg Healthcare !! Amazing folks giving great care to their patients and families. We are so blessed to care for others alongside their team, offering them the best experience possible.
One day your momma won't call you anymore,
One day you will wish she had lived more days to enjoy your time with her.
One day she'll stop telling you to stop with your jokes.
One day she'll stop giving you the advices she thinks is right for you.
One day you will find the house where she was always waiting for you with a cup of hot coffee or glass of wine upon arrival, empty.
One day her voice will no longer be heard.
One day, only memories will remain.
Time flies and waits for Nothing and nobody.
And on that day, you will feel a void so great that nothing and no one can fill.
Love on your mom every chance you get !
Loss is an inevitable part of life. And with it of course, comes grief.
Grief can feel like a deep, dark hole that we will never climb out of, but when it all feels hopeless,
I like to remember that it works just like love.
Because, when we first fall in love, it is intense.
It is overwhelming and consuming and loud. We cannot think of anything else, and we constantly crave the one we love.
After a while it becomes less intense, but it grows.
It grows deeper, more comfortable. It settles down and settles in for the long haul, knowing that it is not fleeting or superficial. It is less consuming. Quieter. An undercurrent of our every day without overwhelming our every thought.
Sometimes something will happen to bring that overwhelming love back to the surface; moments of pride or surprise or nostalgia that remind us just how much we love someone. Moments where our love is once again intense and loud.
And then it settles back into our heart where it knows it will stay.
Grief is the same.
At first it is loud and consuming, intense and overwhelming.
We constantly crave the one we grieve.
Then it becomes less intense, less consuming. An undercurrent of our every day without overwhelming our every thought.
And sometimes something will happen to bring our grief bubbling right back to the surface. Moments where our grief is once again intense and loud.
And then it settles back into our heart where it knows it will stay.
Because great grief is born of great love.
So where grief remains, where grief rests,
it often helps to remember that love is there too.
Sitting with her arm around grief
and holding it tight.

"Barry Conlin was a U.S. Army veteran, a loving husband, a proud father of two, and an avid collector of classic rock albums.
In 2020 when he was just 58 years old, Barry’s skin started feeling itchy. His wife, Donna Conlin, thought his skin color looked off.
Medical tests revealed that Barry had pancreatic cancer, and despite many rounds of treatment the cancer spread. In August 2023, Barry became a home hospice patient with Rochester Regional Health.
That’s when something extraordinary happened.
‘To be near heaven’
Rochester Regional hospice workers routinely ask new patients whether they have any dreams they still wish to fulfill. Barry wasn’t sure. He and Donna talked about a trip to Scotland or maybe a warm beach somewhere. None of that seemed right. Then one morning Barry knew his choice: He wanted to ride a hot-air balloon."
