A little trip down memory lane 💙

My passion for journalism started at a really young age. I still remember being in the car, asking my mom to chase ambulances so we could know what was going on and where they were headed. I still have VHS tapes, recordings, of me interviewing my grandparents on their 70s era floral couch.

In high school, I did everything I could that was journalism related - the student news, yearbook, the paper, debate, etc.

I went to Ohio University and studied journalism at E.W. Scripps, which has repeatedly been named one of the best schools for journalism in the country.

I have worked in four states including Athens, Ohio, Eugene, Oregon, Albuquerque, New Mexico and Indianapolis, Indiana and moved a ridiculous times in each of those. I have anchored hundreds of newscasts and covered thousands of stories - both good and bad (and I remember almost all of them). I have met so many wonderful people, both personally and professionally, that have stayed with me and always will. In fact, I met my husband while working in journalism and had two beautiful babies. And we all know I have rescued (too many) dogs 🤪

We have celebrated Best of the City awards, Society of Professional Journalist awards and several regional Emmys together.

This is a thank you post!

For always taking me in as one of your own and for the support. For always watching the morning news and my investigative stories. For calling me when you were in need of some help or wanted to let me in on something happening in your community.

This photo is bringing me full circle!

This was taken (by Gabe Ross - WECT) 12 years ago today. I had just graduated college. Bryan and I were about halfway done with the newscast at WOUB News & Culture (E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University)

More than a decade, four Emmys and three news stations later, I’m still having a blast! How time flies!

We helped put contractors in jail.

One major company rebranded, reportedly because of bad press and potential lawsuits.

We pushed for Attorneys General to investigate a different company and its sales practices.

We have done some really important work in this last year, but when you're deep in the weeds researching, gathering interviews, working on adrenaline trying to meet deadline and checking the calendar for possible follow up dates, you don't quite realize the extent of it all and the impact you may have had.

On Saturday, journalists from Cleveland, Toledo, Fort Wayne and Indianapolis gathered to celebrate the importance of journalism. We also honored some of the best in our region. And somehow, I walked away with an Emmy for "Outstanding Talent: Reporter - Consumer." What an honor. This award isn't for one story we did, but it was for consumer reporting as a craft. I was absolutely stunned. I only wish I had video of my reaction.

Later that night, CBS4 Indy won "Overall Excellence," - the grand prize, if you will. For being the newest station in Indy, that is quite the accomplishment. We're a small but mighty team that truly believe in making a difference. That was recognized this weekend.

There is still so many stories to be told. The future is bright. I can't wait to see what's ahead for all of my colleagues in the future.

We had such a wonderful time at the Indianapolis Zoo last night! Despite the wet weather, we got to try great food and drinks and hang out with great people at Zoobilation including Krista McEnany Meteorologist.

I can’t wait to see how much the zoo raised for animal conservation.

By the way, the new kangaroo exhibit is SO COOL!

The most ordinary of Friday nights after a very difficult week across the country 💔

HAPPENING NOW:

Operation Fly Formula is underway. The first flight loaded with more than 70,000 pounds of infant formula is about to land in Indiana.

The flight is expected to land at the airport late this morning. There are six FedEx trucks ready to transport. We do not yet know how much of this formula will stay Indiana or where it will be distributed.

The formula coming in today is hypoallergenic for kids with cow’s milk protein allergies.

Why should you contact your local news if you have a problem? Because you may not be the only person affected.

Check this out:

In September, a woman emailed saying she had paid this contractor thousands to do some work. She said he took her deposit and ran. Come to find out, there were a lot of people that said the same thing! What we found out is that William Bradley Kahn kept changing his business name and was providing different names to people, so they were never able to find his work history. At the time, he had six pending criminal investigations and several small claims cases against him. Prosecutors said they couldn't do anything to stop him from working/doing business.

Fast forward to February, I get an email from a guy in California. He said he paid Kahn $17,000 to work on his pool...and guess what. Kahn took off.

I spent the next few weeks confirming Kahn and an alleged accomplice had registered a new business in CA and two more in Texas. The Secretaries of State and Attorneys General made it pretty clear, they couldn't do much to protect consumers from this guy in particular.

In April, someone sent me paperwork from Texas showing Kahn was trying to purchase a car -- all cash. It had his last known address.

Over the weekend, I got word US Marshals were looking for Kahn. I confirmed it Monday morning. That day, I forwarded the paperwork I had received from Texas. On Tuesday morning, US Marshals let me know they had located Kahn in Houston - at the address listed. They took him into custody without incident.

No word yet on extradition or whether Kahn will face any additional charges.

Big news this morning: the search for a fugitive and a corrections officer out of Alabama is over. They were located in Evansville, IN.

Casey White (left) is now in custody and will have a hearing today. Officials confirmed Vicky White (right) shot herself and died just after 7pm Monday.
