The Field Recordings Dry Hop Pet Nat is great for spring and summer plans. Organic Chardonnay fermented for 3 weeks with organic hops, giving this wine aromas of lager. The palate has flavors of pear, green apple, and grapefruit. Give this a try the next time you’re in the mood for a fun sparkler or instead of a beer!

We’re back with some wine education to tell you about Malbec.
When we think of Malbec now, we might immediately jump to Argentina, but it wasn’t always that way. Malbec was originally grown in the Cahors region of France. It was a favorite of Francis I of France, so much so that he had vines replanted in the Bordeaux region- which is why we still occasionally see it in some Bordeaux blends.
In the 19th century, Malbec vines (and most vines) in France were ruined thanks to the phylloxera epidemic. Many winemakers at the time chose not to replace their Malbec vines, choosing less finicky grapes like Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
In the 1850s Malbec was brought over to Argentina from France, along with other wines, and it was found that Malbec thrives here! The Andes provide a great environment for Malbec with high elevation, dry climate, sunny days, and cooler nights. These conditions allow the grapes to maintain some acidity, giving wines more structure, richness, and texture. Now, 75% of Malbec is grown in Argentina! It is still grown in France (Cahors, Bordeaux, and the Loire Valley), as well as here in the U.S. and Chile.
