Anyone recognize this IYO/NWYO alum from 2003?!? Mr. Joel Powell is now the Associate Director of Orchestras and String Activities at Avon High School!! Not only is Mr. Powell an alumni, he also is one of our past conductors!! Thank you, Mr. Powell for continuing to be an advocate for the IYO!!

Today our Symphony Orchestra had the chance to travel to Purdue University and work with several music faculty and staff members! Thank you and Orchestras for sharing your expertise with us! We can’t wait to come back!!

Congratulations to ALL of the musicians that had amazing performances today at our annual Young Artist Competition/Philharmonic Orchestra Concerto Competition!!! Today’s Throwback Thursday comes to us from This photo comes from a concert in 2019. Emmie (violinist circled in the front) was a sophomore in high school at the time. Unbeknownst to Emmie, her future husband, Mike (percussionist circled in the back) was subbing in the percussion section! Emmie and Mike met later at Butler University, where they both are currently attending and studying music. They were married this past July!!!
