It's founder's day! ❤️ On this day in 1956 Gib McConnell opened his roadside A&W Root Beer stand for the first time! Gib originally thought popcorn would be a big seller alongside his ice cold root beer. At the time, all the movie theaters were selling out, so he brought a machine along with him from Bussey, IA. 🍿 Although many products have stuck with our store over the years, popcorn did not. After three seasons, Gib donated the machine to St. Mary's Catholic Church. Luckily, the breaded tenderloin joined the menu in 1957 and proved to be root beer's perfect match!
