All blocked and ready to wear! Which leads to the next question: how do you wear your shawls?
Over the shoulders? Draped, but with one long end casually wrapped around? With a shawl pin to hold it in place?
I favor the full wrap with all 3 points in front (like in the last slide.)

Finished crocheting our latest sample shawl, so now it’s blocking time!
This piece doesn’t need to be opened up (like knit lace does,) but we want to be sure it has straight lines and even sides. Plus almost every project benefits from a bath— gives it a chance to relax and get clean 😉

Happy 😀
I’m working on the sample shawl for our next crochet class: a cozy shawl in worsted weight. 🧶

And yes, I am using a mug as a yarn bowl 😆 50 gram skeins fit pretty well!

It’s amazing the different effects you can get from combining simple stitches. This shawl is almost entirely single crochet, but the slight variations on the stitch are really effective!
The cable sections are especially interesting—very much a “trust your pattern” moment. As the yarn is winding through a bunch of loops it’s hard to believe it’ll turn out well, but it totally does! 🤯
(Progress pics included so you can share the experience 😉)

Hat weather is here!! 🥳🎩🤠
Hats are great—small and fast and effective at keeping you warm, plus a great option for a single skein of yarn.
Do you have a favorite hat? Do you maybe need to make yourself (or someone you love) a new hat before it gets properly cold out? We can help!

Fondly remembering my first Clapotis which I made in 2008! It’s gorgeous in Zauberball Crazy, isn’t it?
🇬🇧 20 years ago Kate Gilbert's shawl "Clapotis" appeared in the online magazine Knitty. A simple but effective shawl/scarf pattern with diagonal dropstitch stripes. To celebrate its anniversary, Knitty has reprinted the pattern in its current deep fall issue 89.
Ann knitted her shawl with Zauberball® Crazy "Tropical Fish" over 10 years ago. But it still looks great!
A little tip: instead of using lots of stitch markers, you can work the drop stitches in reverse stockinette stitch.
