We're giving 10% of our total sales on Tuesday to help support the wonderful program IM Fostering Hope through the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.

The purpose of IM Fostering Hope is to gather necessities that a youth may not have when entering foster care like hygiene items, new clothing, pajamas, backpacks, undergarments, socks, shoes and more!

Stop in to the cafe or come through the drive-through on Tues Sept 10th to help support a fantastic cause helping the foster youth in Ionia and Montcalm Counties! We'll even have some giveaways for the first 100 people that stop in!

As it starts to feel a little cooler outside, we finally have fall drinks available again Tuesday, September 3rd!

But the BIG DEAL that I'm super excited about are our **NEW MENU ITEMS** arriving Monday, September 9th. You've seen us teasing a few things like frittatas, toast with PB&J, and even Gluten-Free bread loaves. We'll also have a couple more surprises on the menu too, so come early that day and stock up!

Congratulations to Harley on their beautiful journey from bachelorette to newlywed! We're thrilled to have celebrated with them at SoZo Coffee Roasting (we may have also made a little stop down at El Mariachi Mexican Grill that night too).

After Herlindo's passing in July 2020 his son Alejandro, stepping back from his own business in the city, took over the management of La Colina to continue with a fresh perspective yet maintaining the essence of his father’s methods.

This is Herlindo, a widower and former auto parts dealer in Guatemala, who turned to coffee farming as a solace after his wife’s passing.

Ever since Herlindo was a kid, he was fascinated with coffee. He immersed himself in the craft, meticulously nurturing traditional coffee varieties on his scenic farm.

Recognizing Herlindo’s dedication, our co-founder Rodney worked to make sure an ecological wet mill was installed to elevate the coffee’s production, ensuring Herlindo could bypass local middlemen (known as “coyotes”) and connect directly with quality-minded roasters. This step was pivotal, allowing Herlindo to process his coffee beans on-site at La Colina Farm, enhancing quality and ensuring that the beans' integrity remained intact from farm to cup.

Our partnership is more than transactional; it's a shared journey of improvement and learning, benefiting both parties and delivering superior coffee to our customers.
