How do you know which is the best* red for a guest?! Copper gold?! Red copper?! Red violet?! What about a red brown or copper brown!? Swatches. Simple as that. Most of the time both the cosmetologist and guest will be able to see tones and levels that will best compliment the skin. *The BEST warm tone though is ultimately the color that makes a guest feel the most confident 😘 Base formula: @matrix SoColor: 9G, 7BC, 6RR+, 8CC with 10 volume

It has been about 2 years since I first started researching salons in the Columbia area. One of my highest priorities was finding a salon that valued inclusivity. Turns out when you are only willing to consider salons with gendered free pricing you’re left with very few options (we will put that conversation up on a shelf for now though) Thankfully I didn’t need many options because I found @thevelvetedgesalon and that was the truly the end of the search. Since I started at TVE a little over a year ago, I continue to be thankful that I’m a part of a salon that values and respects our guests. One of the more recent ways we’ve upped our inclusivity game is by getting robes in a wider selection of sizes. I have had guests of all sizes share with me how thankful that are they they see such a range. 🖤 The fact that they are hung up next to such a beautiful mural by @meaganrosehair is just the cherry on top.
Things to keep in mind if you’re flirting with becoming a feisty redhead: - you may need more regular touch ups depending on the application...don’t worry, we will cover this in our consultation! - dimension is everything. - know that red is far from a one size fits all color. - be aware that you may need to adjust your makeup colors (this includes brow color!!) - people will oOo and Ahhh at your majestic mane. The proper response to the many compliments you’ll be receiving is a simple ‘thank you’ & hand them a compliment in return.
Today is career day at our son’s elementary school. Both my husband, Chase Jones, and I sent in videos. So if you’ve ever wondered what I do day to day here ya go 👩🏻🎨👩🏻🔬 And for those of you who know Chase Jones and me… you’ll be 0.0% surprised to find out that I had 15 minutes that I edited down to 4 minutes and Chase did his all in one shot… in 3 minutes. 😂 honestly, I’m surprised his was that long.
In 2020 we decided to move our family from my home town to a different city, in a different state, in a different part of the country 🙃 oofta I was able to land a job at a salon that checked off almost all of the boxes on my wish list 9 months before my start date (big Enneagram 3 energy here 🙈) In 2021 I closed my beautiful salon suite in Iowa, we packed up our family and headed east to South Carolina. I’ve worked hard at building relationships with my guests, learning how to be a teammate again after 8 years on my own, and navigating life away from the security net we’ve always known. I closed out 2021 with a rapidly growing clientele and stepped into a leadership role as the salon’s education coordinator and lead of the mentoring program. (Again my enneagram 3 is trying to be humble but damn, I am proud of myself for all that I accomplished in 9 months.) I kicked off 2022 with a fire to learn and share my love for the industry with my guests and fresh faced cosmetologists alike.
