Shimmick Corporation (Nasdaq: SHIM) has secured a $27.6 million subcontract for electrical work on the Sunol Valley Water Treatment Plant Ozonation project, part of a larger $234.8 million contract awarded to J.F. Shea Construction, Inc. by the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission. The project, located in Sunol, Alameda County, aims to improve the taste and odor of raw water through the construction of an ozone treatment facility and associated infrastructure. Leveraging its in-house electrical capabilities, Shimmick's role includes installing high-voltage power systems, instrumentation, and controls for the new facility. This project will enhance water quality for millions of Bay Area residents by providing additional disinfection, improving treatment reliability, and offering protection against potential contaminants.

St. Bernard Parish suffered some of the worst damage during Hurricane Katrina when a 23-foot storm surge breached the levees, causing millions of dollars of property destruction.

As the lead of the St. Bernard Levee Partners joint venture, Shimmick constructed 8 miles of flood control wall on top of the existing LPV 146 levee ahead of schedule on June 1, 2011. This time-sensitive and mission-critical project improved hurricane protection for the citizens and businesses of the Greater New Orleans area.
