Free Wheelchair Mission
Free Wheelchair Mission is a nonprofit providing wheelchairs for people with disabilities.
Meet Irene, a sweet 29-year-old from South Africa, whose life was transformed by the gift of a wheelchair.
Irene was born with a disability that limited her mobility. In a community with lingering superstitions and misconceptions, Irene faced isolation and challenges, but never lost her hope.
Thanks to a generous donation from somebody like you, she received a new GEN_3 wheelchair, opening a world of new and exciting opportunities.
Now, Irene attends classes, meets friends, and is learning a trade to support herself. With tears of joy, she shared, "God bless you for helping people like us move around." Irene’s journey reminds us that mobility and support can turn dreams into reality.
Help us transform lives like Irene's. Join Mobilize, our monthly giving platform, and give the gift of a wheelchair this year. Sign up and learn more at https://www.freewheelchairmission.org/mobilize/
This month our Mobilizers sent 488 wheelchairs to...
Nicaragua!

Meet José, a spirited 24-year-old who lives in Costa Rica with his mother and seven siblings.
In 2021, José's life changed forever due to a severe traffic accident on his way to work, resulting in the loss of his left arm. After months of recovery, an infection from his initial injury led to the amputation of his left leg. Despite these challenges, José stayed hopeful.
His family could not afford a wheelchair, so our local distribution partner, the Do It Foundation - Costa Rica, provided a new GEN_2 wheelchair. This crucial mobility aid has empowered José to renew his independence and mobility, profoundly impacting his life and the lives of his family who look after him.
Help transform lives like José's every month by joining Mobilize. For as little as $32 a month, you can provide 4 new wheelchairs to people who need them. Join today at https://www.freewheelchairmission.org/mobilize/

Today, we honor the strength, resilience, and achievements of individuals with disabilities around the world. Remember that disability looks different for everyone. While some disabilities are visible, others may be less noticeable, like emotional, sensory, or a wide variety of other conditions.
We are committed to championing the disability community and empowering those who need wheelchairs with the transforming gift of mobility.
Join us in celebrating Disability Awareness Day!
Our wheelchairs are delivered in-country with the help of our distribution partners. Their local network has the knowledge, experience, and creativity to get our wheelchairs into the hands of the people who need them most.
While the journey isn't always straightforward or easy, we are proud to be partnered with organizations that are committed to serving those with disabilities in their communities.

This is Joseph (17, Kenya), and he has muscular dystrophy.
Muscular dystrophy (MD) is a group of genetic disorders that cause progressive weakness and loss of muscle mass.
People with muscular dystrophy may experience symptoms like difficulty walking, frequent falls, and trouble with activities requiring muscle strength. They may eventually need to use wheelchairs.
Today is Chronic Disease Day, and we believe it's important to remember there are countless reasons that an individual might be using a mobility aid, like a wheelchair. For many, it may not look like a lost limb or spinal cord injury.
Mobilize is more than just a monthly giving program. For $32 a month, you can transform 4 people's lives every single year by providing new wheelchairs!
This consistent support not only ensures we can deliver wheelchairs to those who need them most, but it also helps lower overall costs, allowing us to maximize the impact of every dollar.
When you join Mobilize, you become part of a dedicated community committed to giving the gift of mobility. Mobilizers also receive exclusive monthly newsletters packed with stories and photos from the field!

Since mid-June, El Salvador has been battling a national emergency due to heavy rains caused by tropical storms. The country's regions have experienced heavy flooding and landslides, resulting in fatalities, hundreds of buildings damaged, including schools, and thousands of people displaced.
We will continue to monitor the need and updates from our partners located in El Salvador, who are providing much-needed resources including wheelchairs in response.
While we pray that disasters like this never happen, we continue to build out our disaster response plans in collaboration with our partners. Due to these efforts, our wheelchairs have been deployed in El Salvador to serve their relief and medical needs from the heavy rainfall.
Please continue to pray for the people of El Salvador, our partners, and especially for those with disabilities as they are often the most impacted in disasters like these.

Today, we celebrate the independence of our nation; a nation founded on principles of freedom. The land of the free.
We are grateful for the freedom and independence that we have.
We will never stop advocating for people who need wheelchairs, and we are proud to be founded in a country that supports our mission by defending our freedoms.
If you celebrate Independence Day with us today, we encourage you to remember those peoples and nations that don't have the same freedoms. May we never lose sight of what we have.

A new GEN_3 wheelchair has transformed his life, granting him the independence to navigate his world—from college hallways to community spaces—on his own terms.

Kenya!
These wheelchairs were given to people like 11-year-old Valerie.
Valerie was born with cerebral palsy and has visual impairment. Her extended family would take turns caring for her, keeping her safe.
With no mobility aid, she would spend most of her days at home, unable to go outside.
Her family was so thankful and overjoyed when Valerie received her new GEN_2 wheelchair!

A behind-the-scenes look at the wheelchair training every recipient completes when they receive their first wheelchair.
Here, we are practicing safe methods of transfer in and out of the wheelchair during practical, daily use.
Developed by physical therapists, this training covers a wide range of topics aimed at keeping users safe and equipped. Each recipient is also given a physical guide in their own language, for continued reference.

More than seven thousand people attended the event and we loved connecting with hundreds of new and familiar faces, sharing stories about the transformative impact the gift of a wheelchair has on somebody's life.
Our spinning wheel of prizes was a big hit with families and kids, introducing them what we do at Free Wheelchair Mission.

This Father's Day, we celebrate dads like Arka (45, India), whose life was transformed by his first wheelchair after an accident left one of his legs amputated.
With his new wheelchair, Arka is no longer confined to his home. He now enjoys renewed independence and less pain, enriching his life as a dad. His daughter told us, "It's a very good thing that you help so many people and we are so grateful." Thanks to this gift, Arka can embrace every precious moment with his family.
Meet Daniel, an 11-year-old boy from Nyeri, Kenya.
Daniel has cerebral palsy and cannot move around independently. He didn’t have a wheelchair, which meant he couldn’t go to school.
We were so excited to give Daniel his first-ever wheelchair, in partnership with Walkabout Foundation!
His face lit up the minute he was lifted into the wheelchair! Now, Daniel can
finally get an education, while his mother can return to work to provide for herself and her son.
We are still looking to reach our goal of 2,600 wheelchairs for Move for Mobility, but there's good news!
Nearly 1,000 wheelchairs have been raised already and fundraising is still open through June! If you have ever considered giving the gift of a wheelchair with us, or maybe today is the first you've heard of us, either way, now is the perfect time to bring joy to a whole family.
Millions of people around the world are waiting to receive their first-ever wheelchair. Head over to MoveforMobility.org to help us transform more lives with the gift of mobility!
