Sharing an opportunity to give back to our Irvine community

Make a Difference: Volunteer for Love Irvine's Citywide Serve Day!


On Saturday, November 2, 2024, the nonprofit organization Love Irvine will partner with the City of Irvine to host the fourth annual Citywide Serve Day—a community-wide effort to unite volunteers in impactful service projects across the city.

This event, which brought together over 500 volunteers across 22 projects in 2023, aims to expand even further this year, offering more opportunities for Irvine residents to contribute to meaningful causes.

The day will begin with a kickoff event at 7:30 a.m. at Heritage Park Community Center, where city officials such as the Mayor, City Council members, the Irvine Police Department, and the OC Fire Authority will address and encourage the volunteers.

The gathering is a chance for the community to come together in support of citywide service, highlighting the collective power of volunteerism.
After the kickoff, volunteers will head out to various projects at different locations throughout Irvine. The 2024 Citywide Serve Day will offer more than 26 service projects, including:

● Harvesting fresh produce at Second Harvest Food Bank, which will help provide nutritious food to those in need.

● Sorting food donations at Families Forward, ensuring that local families facing food insecurity have access to essential supplies.

● Teaching technology skills to seniors at Lakeview Community Center, helping bridge the digital divide and empowering older adults with valuable tech knowledge.

● Making blankets for the 2/11 Marine Battalion to show support and care for those who serve.

● Organizing clothing donations at Working Wardrobes, providing professional attire to individuals re-entering the workforce.

With such a wide range of projects, there’s something for everyone—whether it’s working hands-on with food distribution, supporting local veterans, or helping seniors navigate modern technology. Volunteers of all ages, skill levels, and backgrounds are encouraged to participate.
